GH2 GH2-X Thirty screwed up my camera?

Any reason why he couldn't update to the 1.1 stock firmware (The one Panasonic just recently released), and maybe back to the older 1.0 ware? Could that reset all the values. Not to mention, he could flash back to stock firmware and get warranty.

Yes, the coding of 1.1 (not just values) is significantly different. I am hoping that will force a full, clean flash.

Can I still use the hacks once I update to 1.1?

'Cause video still works fine and I'd rather sacrifice the ability to shoot stills than the ability to hack. I mostly prefer shooting stills with my D700 anyway...

Yes, you would revert back to 1.0 patched to retain the hacked ability, hopefully stills problem solved.

Sorry to leave you hanging guys, I've been out of the house.

I tried installing 1.1 stock, and then going back to 1.0 stock. Issue was not resolved.

IMO If you were able to successfully load those firmwares on you camera then it more than likely is a hardware issue. But....what do I know?

I think it's funny how many people are freaking out. 1 camera out of at least 200 that have probably been patched almost 2 dozen times, happens to fail and the patch is to blame? Come one. And tha'ts not including all the Gh1 cameras. Flash it back to 1.1 and send it to Panny. It's a hardware issue.

yup.

Yes. The hacking process, not this hack, but still, yes. I tested the camera 2 minutes before applying the hack and had no problems. The problems existed immediately after applying the hack. It's not a coincidence. Even Sage agrees :

Also, as to whether it is coincidence - it is not. The firmware did not flash correctly (a very fine process that requires continuous power supply, no spikes).

Which, I suppose, is fine - unless it happens to be *your* hardware.

Back in the days of the GH1 hack, the Russian gentleman posted some 'experimental' settings which completely bricked someone's GH1.

The unfortunate owner posted about his problem, but after a brief exchange, the Russian gemtleman ignored him.

Will the Russian gentleman care if *your* camera fails due to a hack setting?

Don't put *too* many roubles on the bet.....

There is madness going on at the moment - insane settings (that have no relevance to real life use) that can damage your GH2 - after which you are on your own, 'cause the 'hacking community' don't want to hear about such setbacks.

Nor does the Russian gentleman.

....but the camera isn't bricked....right? :)

Bricked as far as photo's go, apparently.

It's all a matter of odds - for instance, only last month I learned that I was the illegitimate grandson of the Emperor of Japan, and that a powerful Japanese political lobby wants me to be installed upon the throne and hailed as a new Mikado.

This is exciting stuff - but, realistically, I have to assess the chances of me occupying the Japanese throne as, at least, 1000,0000 to 1.

Which, imo, compares favourably with the odds of the 'hacking community' caring about a destroyed GH2 - currently at 5000,0000 to 1....

Remember to bow before you answer, btw ;)

Any type of electronic hack has risks involved, and people should be aware of this when they hack their cameras. I definitely knew there was a small risk of damaging my camera when I hacked it, but it was a risk I was willing to take.

Currently I've only hacked my camera to use one of the 42 Mbit patches because I don't own uber fast memory cards to take advantage of the higher rates. Likely I will keep using the 42 Mbit patch over the next couple of months, which is OK with me as even the 42 Mbit patch makes a significant difference to my eye with the videos I shoot. Eventually I will try the uber patches when I've got the cards that work at 22 MB/sec data rates.

Like others have suggested, I would put the new Panasonic 1.10 firmware on your camera and then take it back to Panasonic to see what they say.

Absolutely, most Panasonic employees wouldn't know a hack if it showed up to write a Hollywood script on their foreheads.

Have you tried resetting all the camera settings? under "setup" -> "reset"? I'd also try a pixel refresh.

Panasonic customer service and even repair center are the most ignorant in the business. Nobody communicates with each other as well.

hacking, rooting and jail breaking are all part of the risks. i recently just rooted and installed android on my touchpad. wouldn't turn on, was sorely disappointed. i just said "oh well," because it's the nature of the beast. thankfully, it was just a button sequence i needed to mash and it worked. but anyone, and i'm not saying specifically the OP, who's going to risk "hacking" something, should be aware of the risks. I don't think it's the patch, unless they improperly installed it. if all went according, then it's just a hardware issue.

regarding the "brick," i think i remember that was resolved. and if someone says "at your own risk," then duh, why would someone go out of there way to try and help?
