GH3 GH2 vs GH3 - We shot a comparison VIDEO.

Looks like if you added a little contrast to the GH2 image, you could match the GH3...at least in these tests.
 
At the end of the second film there are some shots using the GH3 in low light, but I couldn't see any similar shots taken with the GH2 to compare.
 
Matching both cameras shouldn´t be a problem I guess. The GH3 seems to miss the greenish cast the GH2 casts over the picture. I´m sure many will use this comparison to say "The GH2 still is the better deal" ;)
I´d say the GH3 finally is as the GH2 should have been in the first place. The difference in price for a pro shooter is negligible...
BTW The arial footage is amazing!

 
They do look similar in this example. With the exception of the shift toward magenta in gh3 and green in gh2. The shot of the leaves looked much better on GH3 though. Again I think mainly the color bothered me. I have my gh2 white balance shifted to amber/magenta a bit.

Yeah I was wondering if the GH2 was hacked?

Love the octocopter shots. This is something I REALLY want to get into myself soon!
 
We've been shooting with both the GH2 and GH3 as well and the GH3 footage is just amazing. We're getting rid of our GH2s and odering more GH3s. The 72mb/s all-i and 50mb/s 60p alone makes the GH2 worth it's weight in gold. Not to mention you have LIVE audio monotoring during filming and much longer battery life. the GH3 almost feels like a real cinema camera minus a few missing things like vectorscope etc... but the new SmallHD DP7 has most of the software and minotoring tools you need anyway. The combination of a GH3 and a DP7 is all anyone should need.

FYI: On the first day of shooting with our GH3, we notices it handled color and detail much better than the GH2; in comparison, the GH2 almost looks muddy. And the 60p shots we took for slowmo were beatiful. I'm truly blown away that a little $1300 camera can do all of this.

Completely agree with the conclusion: the GH3 is in every way a better camera. My recommendation is to sell your GH2's while they still have some value. I basically picked up a GH3 for $800, which is an absolute steal.
 
I think the biggest difference is just more saturation on the GH3. Other than that, they're pretty damn close.

Except the GH3 get's there at twice the price.
 
I noticed that the blocking was more pronounced on the GH3, especially on the red berry things, and the branch in the river.

The GH2 won't get to 1080/60P at any price. And the low light capability is far more dramatic of a comparison than in broad daylight.
 
What ever the difference the masses alway bumb up the new model until its replacement arrives then thats poo,the GH2 was the cats whiskers until number 3.

Just had a quick look and it's still £1200.00 here is the UK.
Your American price is the equivalent of £828.

There's something borderline illegal going on here with price fixing.
