GH2 Rumors Thread

simple fact
i want gh2 to have
-touch screen like g2
-high bitrate or b-frames
-hdmi out
-1080 24p native
simple requests.
 
I think a lot of people are waiting on this camera. If the rumors aren't true... would be nice too just see the realtime video out. If it did that, well then I'm down for a purchase.. especially to use as a bcam with the AF100... Then with two cameras, won't be killing the bank account so drastically.
 
I checked the IFA news of Panasonic yesterday and there was not a single mentioning of a GH2.
So I think, unless it will be a surprise, I do not think anything will come out there.
The are only offering a new 3D lens for the G system.
 
Most bets seems to be on Panasonic announcing the "GH2" (or whatever it'll be called) by the Photokina expo 9/21.

Also, the IBC expo is 9/14, so that's a possibility, too.

But these are all guesses. They might not announce the GH1's successor any time soon. Stay tuned.
 
My business instinct tell me that it won't happen this year, no way this September.
If it could ever be released this Christmas, you will either see very minimal upgraded features or crazy price difference between GH1 and GH2. Whatever happens, consumer will lose.

my realistic instinct tells me this will be a disappointment.. but my optimistic side says it will have a proper video codec :D
 
My guess is that they're still selling the GH1 at a decent rate. The price has remained close to what it was when it first came out. If they were losing business to the newer Canons and Nikons, I think you'd see the kit coming in at under 1K.

Even though you hardly see any advertising for the GH1, the benefits of no recording limit and auto foucus features seem to continue to give the camera an advantage.

So if the sales are still decent, there really is no rush for them to make a GH2, if the camera even exits at all.
 
I think the GH2 release is imminent. Closing the loophole in the Gh1 bios update to prevent future users from hacking their GH1s to perform better is just another sign that the GH2 is around the corner.
 
i hear the eyepiece has a soft pillow like bit to rest your forehead on and a little compartment for your jammies and a tooth brush :smile:

i've only had my GH1 a year and iam never coming in this section again until a GH"x" can print crisp bank notes.

sorry in advance, i feel technology is leaving us humans behind :(

i once watched a long line of people speaking on there 3g iphones queuing up to buy the brand new 4g iphone, i was so baffled i tripped and fell face forward and head butted the back of my own head...
... everyone in the que pointed and laughed, then they all took a photo with their IPHONE.

Today 43rumors learned that the GH2 will record 1080/60i (not “p”). The GH1 can record 1080/24p only. The camera can also record at a higher bitrate 24Mbit/s AVCHD. I was a little bit worried because of the Megapixels number increase but according to our sources Panasonic managed to improve the High-ISO performance by 1 stop (if true that would be an awesome news!).

The only aspect of the GH2 I'm interested in is it hackability...no hack, no buy.

Ha ha...somehow I think it's no buy for me.

- High-speed burst shooting of 5 fps with 16 MP

Why? The only reason for the hack to begin with was to get rid of the MUD on the GH1. the rest is/was just icing on the cake. If the GH2 doesn't have MUD then what's the point in needing a hack?

Well Live HDMI monitoring will be the second nice addition, so the GH2 is no much better than GH13 for my needs.
 
And if they'll provide HDMI output it'll impact their camcorder sales, especially AF100.
As you could use GH2 as B cameras.
Panasonic comsumer devision is struggling greatly with G2.
This is that I know.
 
what would be the name of GH2 hack if it happens? GH23? whats the significance of "3" at the end? trinity? three kingdoms?
