GH2 Pre-orders

It's so funny, how bent out of shape everyone gets around new product release. I know I used to do the same - so I'm no saint believe me, when it comes to mudslinging, but really, everyone needs to chill out. Here's some advice, expect that there will be f-ups, expect that release dates don't mean much except for an approximation of time that the product will get to you. Meanwhile, take what you have, and go shoot something :)

Not knocking anyone specifically, but I've had some time away from the forum, and I decided to mosey in this morning, and it's just so classic to hop in this forum and see the same old ranting and raving....I dunno, I guess I can just leave the thread right?

No hard feelings- love this place none the less...good luck on your pre-orders

Hehe ... :-)

There's a break in our monsoon rain here this morning, so I'm going out with my hacked GH1 and attempt to shoot more footage of this huge steam locomotive (see attached frame grab from last weekend). Bringing my tripod & slider, too. Should be fun. I hope the rain holds off for a while! :-)

I hope everyone gets their GH2 camera soon!

Just to follow-up, as promised, here's a clip I shot today. This is a camera-original, hacked GH1 1080p24 progressive clip; the .MTS file is downloadable & details are on the Vimeo page.


A fun experiment. Looking forward to shooting it next year with a GH2! Cheers.

Hmmm that sucks. I didn't get that email...
 
Sure does suck. And when I clicked on the link to keep the order open, they say they aren't able to determine a new delivery date yet.
 
I placed a GH2 (black, 14-42mm) order from Adorama Oct. 29th. Up until today my account status always said "Currently back ordered, We have no estimate, etc. Today it says "pending". Maybe that's a good sign.

It looks like no one has received their PD order yet, considering that some of them were placed almost 2 weeks ago. Gh2 is up again for sale through PD but I doubt they will be delivered as promissed 1-3 day shipping.

It shows Body Only in bold letters. Maybe these new orders won't get delay. Ours got delay because of wrong web site picture.
 
After waiting on hold for over 1.5 hours on the speaker phone in my office the verdict is that the PD website its not updated and that the 1-3 day shipping its corrects but it means that it will be effective after PD receives the shippent of GH2 which is on January 3 so 1-3 days from that date. So everyone who ordered the GH2 through PD on Dec 1st will not be able to see their GH2 until the first or second week of January. All they did say is that they do apologize for the website being misleading. That's exactly what they told me, but they have proven to be very inconsistent, so believe what you want.

Wow that sounds pretty moronic. I got a call again today about body only but this time I asked to call me back to confirm. Lady did say it will ship today but who knows. Very frustrating to say the least.
 
I called today and they said my GH2 body was shipped on Dec 3rd but said it is not in stock so they put me on hold for ten minutes then come back on only to tell me they will call back !! How in the world could they run an online business that has no clue about their orders ?

Don't believe a word they say about your order already being shipped unless you have a tracking number from the carrier otherwise wait for your camera sometime in January.
 
I do have a little hope though. The calls I got show the movement of my order. It was VA area code then WA. They have warehouse in WA whereas VA is their main CS center. I'm just being optimistic. There's another way you can track your order if they ship it with UPS. Just try using track by reference with order number.
