GH2 Pre-orders

I finally got "the call" from Panasonic Direct a few minutes ago. They called to confirm if I really wanted the body-only GH2.

Um, yeah: I've already called them twice to tell them that & to ask them when it would ship. During previous calls I was told I would have it by yesterday 12/9/10.

Now they say the camera will ship within "24-48 hours".

Yes, the folks at PD are very pleasant, but I suspect they're severely under-funded and have been given lousy tools to do their job.

Since I already have 3 lenses, and because I don't really want the 14-42mm lens, and since the EPP discount is sweet, I'm hanging with Panasonic Direct for now.

But otherwise -- and considering PD's past shipping fiascoes with the GH1 -- to anyone considering doing business with Panasonic Direct: do not attempt. :)
 
At about 11:30am central time Samys had their gh2 page listed as in stock. I ordered one and the page still said in stock. Then 30 minutes later the page lists out of stock. I called them and was told they didnt get them in and my order is a pre-order. Was never really told why the page said in stock at that moment.

Same here, I bet I will see it sitting by my door before I get any kind of delivery info from PD on my GH2 body. My TM700 3MOS 1080p60 camcorder was delivered before I seen any delivery info on PD website.
 
The GH2 from Panasonic arrived from Panasonic today - no tracking number, or other notice via email. I assume Samantha, whom I talked with several times managed to get this accomplished. She was certainly friendly and helpful, and I will call and thank her for her efforts.
 
Got kinda desperate and thought id call my local camera shops if they had it. Went to wolf camera's site to look for the store and thought id try a search there. They have the GH2 black 14-140mm listed as in stock. I called to confirm and i got a call center in India (i think). He said it was in stock and it was not an error, I asked twice. I made sure to ask that i only get charged when shipped and can cancel without fees and he said yes. So if its not in stock its another preorder. By the way its listed for $1,483.94. He also said its 48 hours processing online and 24 hours on phone so i ordered by phone.

Edit: I also asked how many they had and he said it was shipped to them in bulk so they dont know the number. So i just went with it.

As I previously said, I have made at least 50 purchases from Panasonic Direct, always got the devliery all right but never a tracking number.
I call PD today and Nicole said my order was shipped on 3 Dec 2010. On the same day, they also shipped my order for the Zoom Lens 100 - 300mm, which just showed up at my door today, again without any tracking number.

Hi Paul, I live in Virginia and placed the order on Dec 1.
 
Wolf camera in US has the 140m kit in stock, ordered one last night, $1486.00 incl free shipping and no sales tax, so $1486.00 out of the door 2 day shipping.
 
Panasonic Direct just called to ask if I know it's just a GH2 body only ! After calling them several times since my Dec 1st order I think now they will finally ship it since she said they will ship it on monday.
 
I was hoping for wolf Camera but they are now out of stock... I guess I'll have to be quicker on the trigger. Anywhere else have them in stock with the 14-140 lens?

ugggg.. I got the same call too. Was it from WA area code 253? WTF? How many times they have to confirm? Ship out the damn camera now.
 
Since Dec 1st I told them several times over the phone and by email that I know it's for a GH2 body only yet they called twice already to ask if I know that !
