GH2 Pre-orders

I finally got through to them today, evidently they shipped my camera today, and it will get to me next Friday. I just cancelled my pre-order at National Camera, so hopefully the info they gave me was correct. (I can't really imagine otherwise, but...)

From Panasonic? They told me it was shipped a week ago still no camera and got a call again whether I really wanted body only. I wouldn't cancel your other order. Very likely they will call you to confirm.

To quote Han Solo, "I have a bad feeling about this!" ;-)

No, really, I hope you get your GH2 soon one way or the other!

Panasonic sucks. If it wasn't for EPP I would try to get this camera somewhere else. I ordered 100-300mm lens on Friday from Amazon, it was prepared to ship the same day, then shipped out on Yesterday. How simple is that? Boneheads from Panasonic don't know how to make money.

Kenmore Camera is now out of stock. I called them and it was like a scene from a movie. "Kenmore Camera, how may I help you?" said the guy. In the background was the cacophony of customers. I inquired about the GH2 with the 14-42 lens listed as "In stock" on their website. He said he would check. Moments later he said "Thanks for holding. Those GH2's are just flying out the door. It's a zoo in here. Hold on once more." I waited, then another person picked up, voice raised to be heard over the noise of customers. "Sorry, the last 2 just went out the front door in customer's hands."
So, there you go.

I must have lucked out with the timing. By the way, I found it by using this search term in Google: Panasonic GH2 +"in stock" -"not in stock"
Make sure you include that -"not in stock" and try it a couple of times a day. Seems that GH2s are trickling in all over the place now; Sammy's had some briefly as well.

I agree, if it wasn't for the EPP price I would wait for B&H to get it.

Got a call from Panasonic AGAIN today (who calls on Saturday morning?) asking me the same BS that they did 3 days ago that whether I know that the camera does not come with lens and I told that the lady that I KNOW about it and she told me that they are processing orders and my camera should ship on Monday morning. Lets see how true that is.

Been playing with my GH2 for a day now. I like it! Battery life is not good --gonna need a couple more of those. 14-140 lens is slow --no surprise. I should get my Voightlander Nikon lens adapter next week so I can try out some of my faster Nikon glass.

Are they keep calling us as a delay tactic because they have no cameras in stock? Was it 253 area code? Weird many different calls from different states.

I had one on order with Wolf Camera and they cancelled it, because I ordered online and there was something wrong in the order info. So instead of calling me to verify the info they cancelled it and now it's out of stock. Sucks... Very bad customer service at Wolf Camera. I called and was on hold for 34 minutes then disconnected. Oh well. Guess I'll wait for B&H to get it instock. I've never dealt with Wolf Camera before...

Yes, the call I got from Panasonic Direct this morning was from area code 253. I believe someone posted here that PD may have warehouses/offices in various locations in the US; not unusual for a company of its size. What's unusual is how bad their internal communication & organization is. Hopefully Monday will be a lucky day.

Same thing happened to me, this is BS I even called them this morning to make sure my order was all set and good to go and they told me they shipped it, I just checked the status and it shows as cancelled. I contacted them few minutes ago and they told me that is out of stock, unacceptable and terrible costumer service. We have no one to blame but Panasonic, the GH2 may be a great camera but panasonic doesn't deserve my money. I rather have an inferior camera at this point but at least I know they will treat me right instead of playing games with us. F%$# them.

Wait, are you blaming Panasonic for Wolf's poor customer service, or ?

Well, if Panasonic actually knew how to distribute their merchandise everything from PD, Amazon, Wolf etc...would not be playing games left and right. Look at the game they are playing, calling customers that placed the order on the 1st about if they knew that they ordered the body only, delaying their orders.............common sense. PD charged my card kept my money for 3 days only to call me back to tell me that the camera its not in stock anymore, then they gave me my money back. Wolfscamera the same deal, Provantage the same thing, amazon cancelled my pre order. Maybe buying a GH2 in US its not an option anymore.

Ouch! I hear you. No wonder you're mad at Panasonic & their dealers. Yikes.

This is also the initial frenzy of purchasing a camera when it's just been released and is in such hot demand. I bet by the end of January it'll be a bit easier, which isn't too much consolation but people have been waiting on the Red camera for years....

Panasonic's consumer products division should seriously consider hiring some people who know how to distribute product. They obviously learned nothing from the GH1 distribution fiasco.

Bane, that's some tough luck you've had. And your Amazon pre-order cancellation is very unusual. Amazon normally does not cancel pre-orders unless authorized first by the customer. I've had the GH2 14-140 on pre-order with Amazon since 9/25 and was offered cancellation on 10/30 with an estimated delivery of 11/25 - then was notified again on 11/26 about a delay (with offer to cancel) and new arrival date of 12/17, which still stands.

FYI - I scored my GH1 through Crutchfield's by calling after reading here that they had some in stock. They weren't listed in the Crutchfield catalog or available online - you needed to call. Might be worth a try.

I,too, got my GH1 through Crutchfield. They are a fantastic retailer and I've thought about giving them a call but I'm trying to be patient with my Amazon order. Mine has been pre-ordered since 9/26. My current status is "delivery AFTER Dec. 25. But my 100--300 said the same thing and it arrrived two days ago. I am also hoping that I have moved up in the queue since many of you have recieved your cameras from other sources and cancelled you Amazon orders. (Wishful thinking, anyway)
