TimeFest FINALISTS & Screening & Round 2 Voting Info

A lot of congratulations to the first 8! This was very exciting to wait for this message. Now I will wait for 11. July and seeing what will happen for the first 3 places. We will be on the road by car from Berlin to England and will hopefully find an wirless internet connection (e.g. service station) for my laptop. Also we will not be there physicaly, our hearts and our thoughts will be on the fest.
One question: I thought that the finalist will be 10 films and also I thought that I read this in a thread. I have to admit that I didn't find any more this thread which includes this message. Probably I confused the voting system of up to 10 stars with 10 films?

However, best wishes to all the finalist and thank you very much Larry, Barry, Jason and Jack Daniel for this fantastic work.

congrats people, was a good fest. I'll definitely try and up the ante next time.

I look forward to hearing how the party goes and who the final winners are.

Nice. Couple films I'm sad didn't make the cut but certainly all of the films in the final 8 were excellent (and several of my favorites).

Excellent work to everyone, those who made it to this round and those that didn't quite. I'm sure it was was a very close race.

The first purpose of round two voting is to equalize the amount of votes across films.

I voted on all the films in round one, but if a film wasn't voted on at all by someone is that the equivalent of a 0/10 for them? Meaning not voting on a film is harder than even a 1/10?

Congrats you guys. You all did awesome jobs and told compelling stories. Now I gotta go watch them again and give my feedback to the ones I missed...

The results are very good. I'm excited to see my voting reflected in the final outcome! My results are:

Four 9 stars
One 8 star
Two 7 stars
One 6 star

That must reflect what others did, because these were obviously the strongest films from story through execution. Congratulations to everyone who got a film into the final round! Wish I was in LA for the screening.

A film is only affected if it receives a vote. So if you didn't mark a vote for a film, then it does not reflect negatively on that films overall score. If, however, you mark it as 1/10 then it will pull its overall average down and that will affect it.

So the short answer is, voting 1/10 has more impact than not voting (0/10).

Congratulations to everyone who entered this Fest! Great job all around.

Just a quick question... is the panel voting on the 6 minute version? Or the new 6:30 cut?

Sounds like the original one.

I just want to add that these improvements are fantastic! You guys listened to the people and ran with the ball full steam.
Super Fest, guys! Thanks to all involved behind the scenes!

Cheers,

Mike

Congratulations to all the films in the final eight - you all deserve it.

And thanks to everyone involved in the organization - its turning out to be a great fest. Let's hope that all the hard work pays off with some really good industry recognition on the 11th July, both for DVXuser and for the individual filmakers in the final.

anyone know what cameras each of the finalist shot with. I know O2 was Red as well as Aetas I believe.

Copied from the download area...

Ad Infinitum: HVX

Aetas: RED

John Abbott Mitchell: HVX200 (Nikon D70's)

O2: RED

R.P.D.M. : Hpx500

Survival: DVX 100b

The Small Multiple: HVX200 (Redrock M2)

The Watchman: Canon HV20

Wow! I am seriously humbled and surprised that we got into the Top 8!!! Woohoo!

I think it is cool that the films that made it were a good mix of not only the technology (HV20, DVX, HVX, HPX, etc.) but a good mix of styles as well as first time entrants (Survival, The Small Multiple, others?) and the regulars (RPDM, O2).

Congratulations to all and I am going to see if there is anyway possible to get out to L.A. for the party! (Maybe Rogan, Gary and I can all pitch in and buy a covered wagon and head out West).

A huge thanks to the moderators and everyone else involved in putting this together! Great work!

This is really awesome. Congrats again to all the films that made it to the next round. Well deserved.

One question for the mods.... I'm just curious, I'm not trying to "question authority". Why a Top 8? Why not a Top 10? I know you guys have your reasons, again, I'm just curious.

I'm a first time entrant!
