GH2 Pre-orders

Just got the call too and the lady said they are in stock and ready to ship in 2-3 days. Will wait and see...

If any of you talk to them again ask why order status page is not showing item(s) ordered only total amount?

haha..just got a call too. i was right they delayed shipping because of wrong picture on the website and calling everyone who had ordered to confirm.

Yikes, Provantage told me the 29th yesterday. My Amazon order has a delivery estimate of the 16th still. It would be a shame to not have something by Christmas considering how long I have had preorders in. Panasonic USA really needs to work on their distribution network.

Mine are priced in at $888 with the beater lens from Provantage. I have two on order there and two at full price from Adorama. I need three of them, so am thinking I am taking the extra cash saved and just sit it out. If Adorama calls and says they can ship one, I might reconsider on the one and then wait for the two.

3rd phone call that Pana has made to me in one day. Lauren, very nice she was, just told me (same 757 number again) that my order is processed and will ship out tomorrow. I asked her if I would get a UPS tracking number by email and she said, to my surprise, that someone will probably call me tomorrow to tell me the tracking number. Crazy times indeed. I was never that upset by all of this as I said earlier that I don't need the GH2 for anything but my spare-time hobby; however, they have been very quick with this and seem to have realized that this was a huge F-up on their part. I'm 51 years old and have ordered things by phone and internet for years, obviously, and have never ever gotten three phone calls from a vendor, let alone all in one day. I guess I'll expect it by Monday at the earliest.

Was that an automated call or a live person ? My wife answered the phone when I was outside the house and when I came in she gave me the phone and there was an automated message about the body only and no way to talk to a live person.

Live person. Weird because this was the second time. I got a call from different person two days ago saying my camera was shipped but this one was confirming whether I really want body only. Said it will ship in 2-3 days, tracking # will be send via email. They still have wonky order status even on their main system. Hopefully I'll get it next week.

I just called PD after another hour wait and get this guy that says he has to connect me with another department, then after more waiting he says they are busy and will call me , WTF. I called PD four times since my Dec 1st order and already told them I know it is for the GH2 body only yet they still call me to ask if I know it's for body only. My email confirmation from Dec 1st shows body only. If Amazon operated like PD they would still be working out of Jeff Bezos garage and be one of the smallest companies on the internet.

I ordered from Panasonic on Dec 1. A rep called and left a message Monday Dec 6 - I called back and she wanted to check my phone number. While I was on the phone she checked around and said it would ship that afternoon from a warehouse in Illinois. It didn’t ship, so I call her again. Later that day (Tuesday) she said she had received email from the warehouse saying it would ship on Tuesday. It didn’t. I called today. She checked, called back and asked if I knew I ordered the body only (yes, I did). I asked her if it would ship today. She said she hoped so, and even had her supervisor working on it. She is clearly working hard to get this accomplished. Then today at my office (I assume they got the phone number from my shipping address) we received 3 calls from different people asking if I knew I was supposed to only receive the body. The last one called after I left and talked with my wife. They told her it would ship in “7 to 10 days”. Who knows.
On Saturday I ordered one from Canada. I paid for the fastest shipping, but again I ran into a situation where nothing was happening. I called, and each day was told they would ship it. Finally it was shipped yesterday - via a slow method. Their tracking number shows it is still at the same Canadian postal facility as yesterday. They would not send it to my office, despite my CC company approving that address. They expect me to hang around here waiting for the slow delivery method to show up so I can sign for it.
Amazon. On Sept 21 I ordered a GH2. Two months later they cancelled it, despite assuring me the day before this would not happen. They kept my 100-300 order, showing a shipping date of December 17th. This morning I noticed this lens was actually in stock. I ordered it and it was shipped today from Amazon, not from a third party. They still show the original order due to ship on the 17th.
Are all large companies this screwed up?!

Received a call today from a rep asking if I order just a body (as picture was wrong). He said it would ship in 24-48 hours and the expected arrival date would be the 16th. We shall see because my CC has not been charged yet.

I ordered at the same time, and was just told 24-48 hrs to ship. (with the body only confirmation call)
I had the exact same conversation with a PD dude this afternoon. But really, I'm sure he didn't know. I'm now thinking the camera will come (yay!) but probably not this month (boo!)

I was told Panasonic Direct received a shipment of GH2's on Dec 6 (Monday), and that my body only would ship within 24-48hrs. That was on Tuesday Dec 7th. On another call (previous) I was told all orders are delayed 24-48 hrs due to computer problems. So who knows. But I have never been told 5 weeks.

I have been watching this thread on the forum and thought I should now add my report.

Two minutes ago, my GH2, purchased from Panasonic Direct, arrived. I am in Florida. It is the black, body only. I paid for over night shipping. Originally, I was told I would have it this past Monday and I have been on the phone once a day with a supervisor who helped me get the camera by today. So, it did help to ask for a supervisor to help with my order. It appears that Panasonic Direct is simply overwhelmed with buyers of their many products at this Christmas shopping season and it does not help that their online system is not woking. When I checked this morning, there still was no information that my camera had shipped, so I was quite surprised a moment ago when UPS knocked on my door. I do want to add this discussion that the supervisor at Panasonic was very kind and really did her best this week to help me and I know if she did not make some extra efforts, my camera would not have shipped to me yet.

Ya I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience with Panasonic Direct (North American). I sense they are just trying their best among technical difficulties with the website down.

On the other hand, marketing did not do their job as far as launching this product with a bang (quantity & quality), at least not the way many of us would have expected.
