GH2 Pre-orders

Do you need access to the Panasonic corporate purchase program?

Google for "Panasonic GH2 via EPP", find the right website (something like slickdeals..) and follow the instructions in the posts (hint: read them all to make it work).

This helped me to be a happy holder of Panasonic order confirmation for GH2 body for $630 + local sales tax; free shipping. The confirmation says that the estimated shipping day is today, but that's just computer talking...
 
After almost an hour on hold, I was able to talk to a customer service rep this afternoon. She told me the 100-300 lens I ordered yesterday showed a delivery date of Jan 6. She also said she cannot find out anything about a delivery date, or where I am in the queue for the camera until the order is processed, which usually takes three days (I ordered it yesterday, and like others, saw a ship date of Dec 1. I have no clue why the lens order is processed, but not the camera I ordered at the same time). I asked her to check their stock, and she said she shows stock in several of their warehouses. She also told me I would not see an update on their site until the camera had actually shipped.
It is hard to know how accurate this is - someone else may get a different story, but it was interesting to learn at least some are actually in stock now.
 
Folks, we are up to 29 pages on this thread. Cameras and lenses and whatforth are starting to get all tangled together here. Throw the rest of us a bone and include in each post whether it is the GH2 (thread topic) or other equipment that is being discussed. Thanks.
 
ordered gh2 yesterday around 1pm. no status in account. like billh said, probably shows up after shipped. let's hope.
 
I think I want to clarify something on our orders we've placed. It appears they are shipping December 1st, but actually the '1' you are seeing is for quantity, and is lined up exactly with the shipping column, so it appears as if it's December 1st. When in reality it's just sometime in december.

That's what I make of it anyway.

I am sorry to have to say that this is not what is on my order confirmation e-mailed from Panasonic. It says:

Order Information
Order Number:
 Date of Order:12/02/10
Order Total:$681.66
Estimated Shipping Date:12/02/10

Below this, in another filed, it says Estimated Ship date: December.
So it does not appear that the "1" in 12/01/10 means quantity.

Thanks for the clarification. I never received a confirmation email since they're system was down, i used this link to view my order, and it appears that the December and '1' are running together.

Was it just me being blind, or does the Panasonic site not use to term "Body Only" at any point until after you've paid (it is indeed clearly stated on the receipt). I mean, I could tell after some squinting that it was body only since there were no lens details, but the image shown is of a camera with lens, so I bet there are going to be some sad/mad unwary folk ...
 
If they've charged your card, does that mean they're shipping it? I know with adorama that's the case, but I've never ordered from panasonic direct before.

Actually they can't, if you qualify for EPP you get it, is all automated it either goes through or it doesn't, well it did in my case paid and just waiting to get it.
 
Well, just pulled the trigger. I was going to wait since I'm leaving to be out of the country for a month in a couple weeks and didn't think I could get it in time. But when I looked the site says it ships in 1-3 days and I got 2nd Day Air, so I SHOULD be okay.
 
So I guess that mean they ship it in 1 to 3 days meaning that's when they'll mail it out. I'm shooting a film on Saturday and this is really cutting it too close. If only I got it by tomorrow. This stinks! OK, at least I'm glad it's coming out before Christmas and hopefully they were taking their time making sure the quality is good.
