Will this hack contain 25p?

At this stage in the game I would not speak of a GH2 hack in definitive terms.

Assuming architecturally GH2 is similar to GH1, it should be reasonable to guess that yes it is possible (if and when the hack does become a reality). Even if GH2 no longer has native 25p sensor mode, the same effect should be achievable by dropping frame rate from native 50p to 25p in AVCHD encoder. Or recording 50p at 1/50 sec shutter and conforming to 25p in post. This way an option for smooth .5x slow-mo is available in post with captured footage.

Most probably it won't be required Camera will be dead after this, of course.
But proper BGA soldering station is not very expensive now.

I just received my camera from Panasonic service where they replaced the main PCB. It came with firmare 1.34.
Perhaps if we buy just this PCB (it is about $315) it will come with 1.34 firmware, so we can practice on this, instead of killing a good camera.

I'll be honest. If the GH2 has no banding issues, decent native 24P output, and the noise is kind of filmish like the Pen cameras, then I'll definitely sell my GH13 and get one. I pretty much got my GH1 for free (bought it with the kit for $850, sold the lens for $550, and sold my E-P1 for $400 which I got as a present), so I really don't mind shelling out a couple hundred for a camera that better suits my wants.

What's most important to me is noise and banding. Eliminate the banding, improve noise performance, and I'll sell my GH13 asap for a GH2.

The overal quality is really fine, but I have a shade lighter bars approx fifths of vertical size running through the picture which causes flickering.
Any idea where this comes from?

Yeah I posted these up...and if you look in the darker areas...they dont look clean sadly.

I think anyone selling their hacked GH1s for a GH2 before seeing or trying out the cam are nuts.

I am looking to pre-order from B&H as well. 4 3 rumors says you can pre-order from B&H but it's only listed on the B&H web site as "add to wish list" and "notify when in stock".

Don't know about how it might affect selling a GH1 per se, but I'm thinking it will be a very popular lens once the AF-100 is available. And it's only $500 with the GH2. Not a bad investment - especially if the 14-140 becomes scarce.

Buy the GH2 with the 14-140mm lens. Sell the GH1 with the hack as a body only. Then sell the lens separately. If you do the buy it now option some one will eventually bite even at a higher price.

A couple of months back, when I was looking to sell, that was an average going price for a new one on ebay. With ebay & paypal taking 10% in fees I ultimately decided to just keep it.

Hey guys..I sold 1 gh13 for $799 and the other for $720...you can get a 14-140 fairly easily for $500....non hackable GH1 bodies typically $300 or less...I chose to sell now at max value before the market floods when general sellers wanting to upgrade to GH2 regardless whether its better or not .....ya..ya..I...know nuts (LOL!):laugh:
