"Uncompressed 10-bit YUV 1920x1080", which is ProRes 10-bit 4:2:2
... ProRes is not uncompressed; it is very very far from uncompressed. This is an alarmingly common misconception. ...
Check this out, 1080i? wow? do I need my eyes checking? would love to see the original clips, quite a bit of motion to check the codec, OOC too, hmm!

Question? will you get perfect half speed-fluid motion in 1080i mode in post like you do when you do 0.5 speed with the 720p? that would be really cool if you do?
He has another clip here, he's using the basic zoom I think and the 25mm f1.4 d summilux(nice lens but pricey), the fluid base manfrotto is also put to good use?

Yes, I too would like to know the answer to this question. Experts?

yes,
because "i" means double framerate (1080p = 25 or 30 fps, 1080i = 50 or 60 fps)
That's the EX tele Zoom mode, 2.6x in 1080p, 3.9x in 720p. One of the most touted new features of the GH2. Can't help you on where to find it though. Look for the EX icon
Ah I found out where it is, it's on the 3rd page of the video setup menu, under the Mic Level Adjustment and above the Digital Zoom.
Your results will depend on the resolving power of the lens you're using, some lens are quite soft in the centre
