Finally getting into the GH2 world after a long wait and much research. And just as I do, the price drops for the 14-42mm kit to $750. Wow! Pretty amazing, or am I not thinking right?
 
Don't know about the current price, however when I bought mine, I saved myself a $100 by taking it in silver.

Just bought my second Gh2 body (used) on Craigslist for $700.

Why me??

Does this signal the dawn of the Gh3?

The GH1 body price went for as low as $350 on B&H in the beginning of the year. But that was post-GH2 launch.

Before the GH2 launch it was already low, but not so much. So perhaps we'll see a GH3 announcement near the end of the year.
 
maybe this is signalling the end of the 14-42 kit lens to be replaced by the x lenses?

this is a pretty good deal though. i already have a 14-140, and i'm wondering- how do they both compare at the wide end. both at 14mm which performs better?
 
Darnit. I've had my camera for a few months so I can't complain too much, but I don't know if I've used it $250 worth. :cheesy:

What I really wish they'd dropped the price on is the batteries...

Edit: Also, it makes it seem less likely that they're going to introduce some new improved functionality with the firmware update to justify the higher price. Oh well, I'll have to give up my pipe dreams. ha
 
I never saw this deal on B&H, even though I checked yesterday and again today. The standard black GH2 with 14-42 is listed as $999 right now. I see a few bodies-only going on eBay for about $800 too. Was this deal on the silver GH2, which appears to have been discontinued on the B&H site? Perhaps B&H jumped the gun on a price drop or simply made an error? If anyone purchased at $750, let us know if everything works out.

I think Pana is feeling the competition from Sony nex line. Apart from video the Nex-5n is a better photo camera in many ways. I hope the competition makes them react for gh3 to be more than just an incremental upgrade.
 
Kind of crazy, as of today the kits are now priced $899 and $1299 if you click to show the price. So the previous sale prices were a steal for a few days.

I did not see when the prices were lowered but anyway, I think the biggest problem that Panasonic will have for the GH3 is not making enough initially like with the GH1 and GH2.

Not to rub it in but... I just got a GH2 (US version Black body only) for 780.00 USD shipped.

When I posted this thread, I got mine at $750 from B&H, but I noticed the price change when I checked on Amazon that night as well. I bought on 10/28 as well. I bought an extra battery and an 32gig Sandisk SD card for $882.34 shipped. I guess you have to strike while the iron is hot. If I see the price drop again, I will try to post it.
