GH2 in stock thread

I've been following this thread for a little while now so I thought I'd update with my situation.

I almost ordered the GH2 + 14/140mm kit on February 25th - when I got my last paycheck - but I was short $50 so I thought I had to wait until today's paycheck (Mar. 11). However, after speaking to a Provantage employee via email, I decided to place an order for the GH2 anyway because he told me that the GH2 won't ship for 2-3 weeks and that they will only charge my card when it ships.

So I placed my order on March 6th. I got an email notice on March 7th from Provantage to call back for security purposes. I called Provantage and "verified" my identity by answering 5 multiple questions (last digits of SS #, what addresses I haved lived at, etc.).

On March 9th, I got an email saying that my item is ready to ship but that my order is on hold because they tried to charge my (prepaid) card and it was declined. I got paid today and transferred money to that card - sent Provantage an email to charge it today - and they did.

Hopefully, that means that my GH2 is on its way here to Germany!!!* (I guess 2-3 weeks to ship turned into 2-3 days to ship).

* I'm living overseas with an APO address. My understanding is that the GH2 will ship from the Provantage warehouse in Ohio to New York. From NY, it will be flown to Germany, and then it should arrive at my military base. If they really did ship it out today (or anytime soon) - it should arrive here by March 28th.

I talked to them yesterday and it's backordered until the 23rd apparently.

My credit card keept getting chafed the funds and then refunded so I kept thinking it was shipping, but they apparently need to do a temp. Authorization every week. So now I am looking elsewhere. I need to begin shooting for a client this coming week, so I need to get my hands on one asap. Or go a different direction.

But I think you might be waiting until the 23rd for it to ship.
 
I ordered on Wednesday March 8th from Unique Photo (based on a tip I got on this thread). I recieved my 14-42 kit on Friday March 11th! Simple.

Getting tired of waiting for my PD order. Was thinking about buying from a dude local near Philly off of Craigslist.

A bit of a price gouge though $2500 with 3 lenes or $1350 with a 14-42mm lens :-(. I have the cash just not sure If my PD order will ship soon and I will end up losing a little extra cash. Should I pull the trigger on it?

Unless you just really NEED the camera now, I wouldn't. I think you will end up regretting it.

That's odd that they keep charging it and then it gets refunded. My money hasn't been refunded yet...
I don't really know what to believe w/ ProVantage because they emailed me that "the item is ready to ship" and then I saw on my 'real time order updates' that it is backordered until March 28th. (It seems that their real time order updates are more on the side of unreliable/gimmicky - judging from other posts I've seen on here).

I'd be surprised/thrilled if the GH2 got here by the beginning of April. In the meantime, I'll just have to make do with my Lumix ZS3 and my trusty Canon HV30...

That is a rip off. For $1300 Ive seen on FM the GH2 plus the 14-140mm. Oh, and it's hard to believe the guy had the camera and didn't play with it. Some people don't know the meaning of "brand new".
Call Adorama first thing when they open Monday morning. Almost always they have an open box. Paid for a black with 14-42mm $950. I called UniquePhoto last week and they had 10 silver kits (14-42) in stock.
 
So, at Unique, if you order body-only and the kit lens separately, it comes up to $902.31. There's no reason not to, right?

The full kit is in stock, though, whereas the body only is listed as "out of stock". How often do they get the body only in stock?

I've been waiting for 2 months for the silver body-only. Was told I was first in line and there were only 4 people in that line. They told the exact same thing to ChipThorne I believe... so not really sure what to think / who to trust. People who ordered in Dec got theirs through Unique no problem... I'm guessing they simply just haven't gotten any, don't know when they will be getting any, and are just telling customers the "first in line" thing as to not lose the orders.

unique had 2 black 14-42mm kits in stock today, so I ordered one and I'm guessing someone else snagged the other one.

They mentioned hoping to get more in a couple weeks, but that's what everyone has been saying.

Yuppers, that's exactly what I was told, the "next two silver bodies in the door have your name on them".
 
I ordered my Silver Gh2 from Panasonic Direct on Feb 17th just checked my credit card and it was charged this past Friday!!!! $675 for my EPP discount. I guess my harsh email worked lol.
