GH2 in stock thread

I ordered last night from PD direct and got a silver Gh2 and a 20mm 1.7 lens. Never got a confirmation email and it never showed up in my order status online. So I called them today, to my surprise they said that the lens has already shipped and that the camera is getting ready to ship. I told them that it said backorder on the website and she said hmm that's funny looks like it will ship any day now, but worse comes to worse they are no longer backed up with orders and receive more GH2 cameras every 2 weeks.

Just placed my order with Samy's Camera for the silver GH2 with 14-42 kit lens. It's the only flavor they have in stock.

I spoke with a PD rep yesterday who called (or contacted) the warehouse. SHe confirmed that they just restocked the warehouse yesterday (or was it the day before).
 
i called unique photo today to ask if i switched up to the silver body only would i get it any sooner. His answer was not really because im at the top of the list for black anyway. i have been on the waiting list for black body only since early jan. He did say that they expect stock all over for the gh2 to be significantly better everywhere first 2 weeks of March. I had previously had no interest in the silver because i thought from pictures on the web it didnt look professional enough and looked too much like a point and shoot cam color but after seeing a buddy of mines in person i was really suprised to see it was more of a med to dark gray almost like an industrial gray(if that makes any sense) not the metallicy silver i had thought of from pics on the web. im just saying that in case anyone has the same apprehensions i did about switching up to the silver i wouldnt worry about it. its a sweet color. i might prefer it honestly.
 
sent DP an email yesterday and got this back today:
"...for DMC-GH2S, we currently do not have an estimated loading or delivery date yet. This indicates that the product is still on backorder. Unfortunately, we do not have a date yet as to when this will be available to be shipped to you."
i dont have a clue what is going on. seems we are all getting different information or no information at all. good luck to everyone still waiting.
 
Did you talk to a regular representative or someone with more knowledge? I ordered 12/31 and was told that mine should ship out as soon as they get a new shipment in--which should be "any day now". I don't actually believe this, but I do think it indicates that the regular reps don't have access to any decent information. So, maybe Thursday, maybe 3/14, maybe 3/14/12.
 
I honestly think there's something seriously wrong with this camera. Their obviously holding back for some reason. Could be a build problem, who knows, maybe their having issues manufacturing the sensor. Im only speculating. But if they were producing these without issue, there should be plenty to go around. I really wanted to buy this camera, but now im not even going to bother. Im staying with Canon. There's something to be said for a company that has good customer service, Not to mention one thats honest with it's customers.

Panisonic direct should be ashamed of themselves. I'ts unimagineable that they can treat the people that keep them in business this way. They should give the people that ordered this cam at least a 25% discount at the very least.
