Havasupai means "people of the blue green water". Havasupais have dwelt in the Grand Canyon and the rest of north-central Arizona for over 1,000 years, practicing summertime irrigated farming in the canyons and wintertime hunting in the plateaus. The Havasupai Tribe Reservation is at the end of Indian Route 18 off historic Route 66. It consists of 188,077 acres of canyon land and broken plateaus abutting the western edge of the Grand Canyon's south rim. Residents live in Supai Village in the 3,000 foot deep Havasu Canyon. The reservation was established in 1880 and substantially enlarged in 1975. The tribe is known for its location, traditional cultural life, and beautiful arts and crafts.

Compare to 2010, Canon 7D project:

First off dan, Love your work. Always look forward to watching your films. Second, wow! the difference between the 7d and gh2 honestly looks like SD compared hd, which is really what it is. The 7d only resolves sd. While the gh2 is a true hd cam. However I still like the 7d for narrative work and stills. Just another tool for the job. great work!!

To be more specific, the 1st generation Canon DSLRs (and apparently still holding true for the 2nd gen) resolve about 700-ish actual lines of resolution. The GH2 (especially hacked), looks to be pulling 1000.

I'm assuming you're sticking with stock GH2, Dan?

Thank you for the encouraging words. It's always good to hear you're enjoying these projects.

I agree, the 7D can be a great tool, but I found it unpredictable for landscapes.

Thank you for watching. Always good to hear from you.

Hello Gary,

Yes, using firmware v1.1.

Thank you for taking a look.

Once again - great stuff.

Later on I'm going to stream this through my projector onto my 9' screen. Looking forward to that!

Thanks Dan!

I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed the Havasupai trip DP. Here's hoping your big screen viewing goes well.

Thank you for your continued support, and kind words.

Realy good stuff as usual from you Dan.

Edit i am surprised how poor the 7D looks Dan,i had a 550D/T2i and although my GH2 resolves more detail its not so much difference as on yours https://vimeo.com/15498607 it was the focus i used to struggle with.Chris

Many thanks Chris.

From close to mid-wide, with moderate detail, my 7D could sometimes produce stunning results. However, wide high detail (Grand Canyon) would consistently produce massive aliasing and moire. The last outing for the 7D was a three day Grand Canyon project to solve this issue. Unfortunately, it and I failed.

This was the result:

Dan Canon MOV files were a pain to edit for me i know most people converted them,i found it easiest to convert to HDV as no resolution was lost, looking at my old films i am now in doubt if my films have any more noticable resolution than your fine 7D film, this is about the same http://vimeo.com/17256811 not as inspiring views admitted.

The look is amazing, you did a great job capturing the landscapes. Nice work.

Also, I'd recommend deleting Papyrus from your computer. And comic sans while you're at it, just in case ;)
