GH2: Blue horizontal banding?

I'm still seeing sporadic banding issues in my 1080 24p footage at 160 iso. Has anyone else been experience the banding/flickering/excessive noise in dark/green/blue spots at the lower isos?

I sent mine back. I had the issue starting from 400 iso. It wasnt only banding but noise structure in darker areas very bad, it seems to be noise is not distrubuted evenly. And banding sometimes going all the way cross the screen.i did pixel refresh , didnt helpt at all.
I am very disapointed with the camera. It seems it is not handeling low light at all.i want remind you that 400 iso on digital camera not even equal to 100 iso.
May be i got bad camera i dont know but i am not positive about it. Beside banding, there was some jello and skew ate there. I also didnt like at all why the panasonic didnt give 25p to pal users. I am also not impret by the photos it is producing.
Image was very sharp, colors were good in videos. But if i can not shoot even with day light, it is not something for me.
I am going to look for something else.
I suggest to everyone if you really need to buy this camera buy from the places, where you can return.
Thanks every one for sharing

Hmmm,
maybe there are good and bad sensors out there. Hope, I´ll get a good one...
Why not try another one from amazon? It´s piece of cake to send something back there. I do it all the time with lenses (shitty Tamrons...^^)

Panny so lame. How long will it take to fix it? 3 months? 6 months? a year? It took Panny more than a year to fix GH1's FPN issue... but they are not hackable. I'm afraid that GH2 might follow the same path. GH2 is not a popular model in Japan. We are paying premium to get it as its price is dropping fast in Japan.

Just got word back from an engineer from Panasonic about the line issue. Sounds like he took the issue as serious as he could from a discussion I had with him. He said he FTP uploaded the footage to the manufacturing that produced the GH2, contacted various people and they have all looked at the footage from the MTS from my camera. Also looked at a few other discussion sites and vimeo clips, and found that its within the limitations of this type of technology. He was adamant about a firmware fix not coming, he asked the manufacturers and this came down from someone manufacturing the camera high up. Also different batches of camera arent any better than others. Pretty much answered everything I wanted to know without me asking anything, so he was well up on the subject. Said the cameras better than a GH1 but just not perfect a technology yet. Sounds like its definately not gonna be fixed, so if the GH2 image quality issues your having bother you dont be holding out for a firmware fix or looking at different manufacture dates, is the official word from Panasonic. I think I was the first person to have this problem and they wanted to get to the bottom of it for future calls about it at the UK service centre. The manufacturer had also told him best to shoot a shutter as close to framerate as possible to avoid it, which is what I discovered gets rid of the line. He mentioned Pixel refresh and sensor cleaning but hadnt tried it at there service centre on there models yet. Its weird how these quirks just seem to effect the GH line whilst there other G cameras seem fine albeit noisier.

Thanks for sharing the information.

So the only way to deal with that problem seems to be to use 1/25th or 1/30th shutter speed when shooting in low light with high ISO. No good way to shoot indoor sports, for sure, but shouldn't that be doable with static or slow moving subjects?

Looks like, if I were to get a GH2, it'd be GH2 to tackle moire problematic areas and most general shots, 7D for lowlight and sun shots. (Hopefully never the two will meet.) I can think of worse fates...

This is not noise banding. It's caused by the sun being too bright relative to the settings (light sensitivity) you have dialled in. The GH1, or any other similar sensor will have the same issue.

I don't think so... The band is visible in one location and does not move with the sun. I have pointed my GH13 at the sun and have never seen anything like this before...

Mojo43,

I echo both of your sentiments.... ;) "Holy crap" and the fact that the band seems to isolated in that one spot.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue, I mean, sell my 7D.
