GH2: Blue horizontal banding?

Still i am at loss where panasonic have this gh2 camera, if they consider it a consumer still camera with a bonus video function which some semi-proffs want to use as a proffesional camera, then they'll just ignore the "banding" issue as they did with the vertical line in the gh1 and come with an improved gh3 next december 2011. Live and learn, remember the last official gh1 update what did it do?

Pfft..all I know is I got my GH-2 for the same exact price I sold my GH-1(3) for. ...well....it hasn't quite reached me yet....but.....

Chiming in because I found this thread on Google.

Just for the record, I received my GH2 14-140mm kit on Dec 14,2010 shipped to the US from Canada, serial #WE0KA001.

The banding is very noticeable at 3200, less noticeable at 2500, and as far as I can tell so far, not existent at 2000 and below.

I tested by shooting at various apertures at 1/50th using cinema mode. I was in low but even indoor apartment lighting. I wasn't trying to stress test or anything.

Hopefully there will be a fix provided by Panasonic but until then it's essentially an ISO 2000 camera for the time being... which, let's face it, ain't that bad. (More reason to get those fast prime lenses.)

Heh. With my 7D I never try to get beyond 1600 -- if the picture needs more than that, I find more light.

Can't wait till I have the cash to get me one of these GH2s...

Well, once the stock is regular and I can get one within a few days, I just might. I can't go too long without a camera, so I'm waiting for that...

So, if the banding doesn't appear at a shutter speed of 30fps, and you're shooting at 1080-24p, what is the disadvantage of shooting at this shutter speed rather than 50 frames per second? Footage looks more strobed or flickery?

Just sharing some more banding. Here it is in the sky at ISO 160 in a perfectly exposed sky, on crop mode. (I was shooting the moon).

Here is the original MTS.

The image and MTS look underexposed. I downloaded and imported the MTS file into Adobe Premiere. I can't see the banding. Where on the clip should I be looking?

Never mind. I adjusted my monitor's gamma. I can see the banding now. That said, it still looks underexposed.

So it's my fault that banding is appearing? Is this shot underexposed too?

Did you try this?

I got my Gh2 yesterday. and mine also had horizontal banding visible starting at iso 800. I did a "Pixel Refresh" and "Sensor Cleaning" and this cleared up all banding issues all the way up to 3200....

I didn't know about this solution. I must have missed it in the thread. Or did you just invent it? I'll give it a try! Note though, that this is at 160, which is troubling.

It´s from the other banding Thread. Someones claiming, that this is the solution.

Please guys! Try it out! I would also but I haven´t got my Gh2 yet

It was in the "band solution" thread..
not my idea.
160 you say?? I don't get this anymore..
Someone please solve this
