GH1 user needs help with T2i

hey...first post on Canon land
I own a hacked GH1 and was playing with my friends T2i and I'm completelly lost.

First, you can use the .MOV files straight from the card, right? or am I missing something?

second, the videos from the T2i are very, very noisy compared to my GH1... we shot with both cameras the same scene, with same 800 ISO, same settings, and the T2i is very very noisy

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong...but I haven't found any tutorial or any workflow tips for the T2i.

I'll post some screen grabs later.

Thanks!

What light are you shooting in,in daylight there is no noise on my 550Ds footage, in low light with a good lens i cant see G1s being better.

I just had the T2i for a couple of hours and had little time to play with it, so we shot both cameras at the same time, with the same lightning (tungsten) and the same settings

here are the screen grabs

GH1, ISO 800, Stock lens, f/5.6, 1/50, AVCHD FHD, 24P

T2i, ISO 800, Stock lens, f/5.6, 1/50, 1920x1080 24P

maybe I missed something in the settings?

The Canons are the cleanest at ISO multiples of 160...but the T2i doesn't have intermediate ISOs so that's not an option.

Also, you should transcode the .MOV files off the card to an intraframe codec before editing.

I didnt know this before today but it has me interested. Now if its multiples of 160 it would go
160
320
480
640
800
960
1120

Now the only one in the lot available to us is that 800 so shouldnt this be relatively noisless? Obviously its going to look cleaner at 100 or 200 but still....

Am i missing something?

I wonder if there will be any settings like this available in the magic lantern firmware when its ready, although they dont say anything about this yet.

These cameras are noisy in tungsten light. No two ways about it. That's why I shoot daylight. Though I am about to try a little experiment to see how it works. Might solve my tungsten problem.

ISO 800 on the T2i isn't that great either. I generally stay at 400 or under, 100/200 if it's going to be used professionally.

Comparing a hacked GH1 to a stock T2i is probably not a great matchup though. The GH1 should win that contest EASILY.
