GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

Henry's was finally able to get one for me. I need this camera by Aug 7th. Can anyone tell me how long it took to get from Henry's to their doorstep? I'm in LA, that's 8 business days including today.

so you got yours dojoman? mine is on transit for delivery.

nope not yet. this afternoon after work. hopefully ups delivers to my house in the morning otherwise i will miss the pkg. i think people were saying it was canada model because it comes with additional cards for canada and s america, but in fact it's usa warranty default but also covers canada. i might be wrong but i'm just guessing. either way as long as i have the camera i'm fine.

Just received my GH1 from Adorama! Holy mother is this thing tiny! I've been shooting with a Canon 5D+battery grip and a Fuji GW690 MF camera for the past two years, so this really feels like a dainty little thing... hard to believe it can do what it does!

The cameras are coming, guys. It's been a long wait, but we'll all have them soon enough. Then we can move on to complaining about something else! ;)

can you do us a favor and go thru warranty cards and see what you have? do you have USA warranty card or Canada and South America card?

What cards did Panasonic Direct orders come with?

In the end the warranty is more likely about the recipt (proves when you bought it, maybe where) and the camera's serial number. I assume Panasonic knows which serial numbers go with which area. And they might freely decide to not offer service for any reason.

Mine's on the truck for delivery. Should be here this afternoon (UPS always delivers late to my house).

Interesting... so do we need to fill something out in order to claim our U.S. warranty? I'll have another look through my packaging later today and see what turns up. Hearing that other people ordering from other vendors got the same warranty cards makes me feel a lot better.

Now if my Nikon to micro 4/3 mount would just get here today or tomorrow before I leave for a trip this weekend... I'm eager to throw some f/1.4 glass on this sucker.

I'm about to step out but if nobody has done it before I get back I'll check my warranty card from my Panasonic Direct order.

The box was right near me so here's what I've found. I do have a "Only for Canada" envelope with a warranty car in it from Panasonic Canada Inc. I also have a card that says "Panasonic Limited Worldwide Warranty." I don't have anything that specifically says USA Warranty only.

My Panasonic Direct box shipped to my U.S. address had the little envelope for "Canada Only". I think it also had a form for the U.S., but I ignored it and registered my camera online. I doubt there should be any issues. But if there are it may be if they request a receipt if service is requested. The registration process shouldn't be an issue.

The serial number may indicate something about the camera's origin as well. My U.S. model starts out WE9FA... What do other people with U.S. and Canada cameras start with?

I agree with previous posters that say the registration is really a formality that is more for marketing than warranty. In fact, I just finished my registration on-line - it asks you where and when you purchased it, but maybe more importantly, right at the bottom of the form, it clearly says:

Failure to submit this registration will not diminish your warranty rights.

If you can prove where and when you purchased, you're fine...

Look in the back of the manual

Look in the back of the manual

My FZ28 has the US warranty printed in the manual. Warranties for other countries came in a separate envelope.

Maybe Panny still does it that way.

why does it not surprise me that the ups guy tries to deliver exactly during the time the house is empty for like an hour?? FREAK OF NATURE! i'm going to drive to the warehouse after work and pick it up...will the saga not end after 2+ months of waiting??

I just got mine from masonjersey/Nathan. The "cards" are for South America and Canada but the back of the manual does have a copy of the warranty for the US with instructions on sending it in/etc. I don't like the fact the receipt doesn't have anything other than a name and phone number for the selling company, I could see that being any issue. But it sure looks to me like this is the real deal, or at least as close as you can get.

I'm still charging the battery. I took a couple of shots of the office before the air conditioner blew a fuse (it's record breaking heat here today). Had to move the charger to another room and a unused outlet. The camera is smaller than I thought it would be. Didn't seem to do much for making my dirty office look cinematic. Going to be awhile before I get anything out of it that makes me go wow I fear. I just don't have the SLR background for it, yet.

The forced accessories are kind of cheap. I was hoping the SDHC reader would be decent, but it's kind of plasticy. I didn't even open the extra battery, I know it won't work. The case seems ok, I'll most likely use it to start. The wide angle adapter looks nice, includes the necessary step up ring. I'm sure the picture won't be that good, but I can already tell at 14mm the GH1 is not near wide enough for what I want to do.

All in all I'm fairly happy. Unless Panasonic Direct orders from June 22 start shipping, short cutting with ebay wasn't that bad a deal.

Just got mine too. Yes, it comes with Canadian warranty card. It probably shouldn't matter since PD orders came with the same card. Here's the major disappointment. The body is not made in Japan, it's made in China. The lens is made in Japan though. Can you guys with PD order please check the body and tell us where it was made. I believe G1 which is predecessor to GH1 was made in Japan. This was the only big letdown. Camera is nice but still getting used to the control. It's heavier than I thought but really a small camera.

From what I can tell ordering from a store online is giving people an average 1-2 month waiting period. Does this seem right? That's my only choice, since we don't have any of the types of stores that would carry it around here.
