GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

Just got the tracking number for my May 12th Amazon order too. FWIW, it's shipping out of their Whitestown, IN distribution center. Hopefully this means production is ramping up, I imagine the queue at Amazon must be very long.

A big thanks to everyone for sharing their order ordeal. This thread is tremendous, I even learned some Python in the process ;-).

Man I have a June 6th order. I just bought a K7 but I'm hoping I can get a GH1 before August 7th because I'm leaving on a trip to Europe. *crossing fingers*

I have a may 5th order from J&R. I hit the 3 month wait next weds. About to shoot my face.... anyone have any info with where their status is at? I've been getting mixed answers when I have called in the past, so I just kind of gave up. This is so annoying. Thought I'd be on of the first to have one, but here i sit with a shoe box with a hole cut in it.

Man, is anyone else reading the new MFT (Micro four Thirds) Panasonic rumors? As early as September for a new camera???

Great that's probably when my GH1 will finally come. Now if I could only on a pre-order a new one and wait till next Christmas I should be good.

Yeah, a little more detail about this would be appreciated. It's very exciting but I don't want to open mine if it's going to be some kind of grey market cam.

So it seems Alex has disappeared after getting his GH1. he must be having hella good time with the camera. mine will be here tomorrow.

Mine's here right now - I was hoping to hear a little more from Alex but I can't resist waiting till then. Will be back with my findings in a few minutes! Although I don't know if I'll get to shoot much today, I have to charge the battery first and the sun will probably be gone by the time it's ready.

so is it true there's no usa warranty? what's different from usa to canadian warranty. any sign of camera box been open previously?

Well I am coming down to crunch time since I need the camera by Aug 7 for vacation. I put in an order with Henry's and he said he may be able to get one out to me soon. It seems more and more people are getting theirs. Only a handful out there still waiting as far as I can tell. Or maybe it's just the more vocal one's have gotten theirs.

both of ours is coming in tomorrow...dang, can't even open the box til i get home from work! grrr.

are you still ok with canadian model? my only concern is warranty if something goes wrong or trying to sell back if i don't like it somehow.

Maybe we should start a running list of who still doesn't have one. (If yours has been shipped...you don't count)

Quote or copy and add-on. If somebody, at some point, wants to organize by order date...that's fine with me.

Username - Store - Order Date

1 - Saaby - iBuyDigital - July 1
2 - Saaby - J&R - July 13

Yeah, warranty is for either Canada (one sheet of paper) or various Latin American countries. My biggest concern here is whether I can register for the Canadian warranty being that I'm a U.S. resident and that's where I bought the camera.

Everything in the box was in mint condition, so no concerns there. I'm gonna shoot some test footage in a minute although I don't really know what I'm doing yet! There's an AC adapter so I'm going to get some footage that way before I start charging the battery up.

One annoying thing I'm keen to figure out how to switch off - when in manual focus mode, adjusting the focus automatically crops way in on the image for easier focusing. A nice feature for some things but also quite annoying if you don't want it. I'm sure there's a switch in the menu somewhere.

About to pop in the SD card and go shoot, be back in a little bit.

Edit: The manual focus thing is called MF Assist. Easily disabled.

If you're truly concerned about this, you can buy a third party warranty. SquareTrade explicitly states that they will cover gray market cameras. 3 years of coverage is about $100 after discount (They run discounts fairly often). I don't know if it's transferrable, but if it is, a 3-year extended warranty would also make it easier to sell, should you decide to do that.

I know what you're talking about the zoom-in screen for manual focus. The setting is definitely in the setup manual. I have another Panasonic camera which has the feature.
