1920 frame height patch modified - Can't working, same text on display: NO ADDITIONAL SELECTIONS CAN BE MADE

As I said it is long shot.
Next changes will be added later.

And you are very very helpful tester. Thank you very much!

VA 720p50,00fps->25,00fps patch (was 23,97)
- Working well
Bit rate : 6 168 Kbps
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Original frame rate : 50.000 fps

Upload this file, please.

MJPEG Base audio sampling patch added - 196000 (QuickTime player can't read this file) - 128000 (Can't too) and Show this message: Error - 2048

Upload this files also. We need to look at them, as we can have just wrong header settings here.

MJPEG 30fps->24fps patch modified - Working well but can't test drop frame, if anyone can test this mode, please do it.

Format : M-JPEG
Codec ID : jpeg
Duration : 24s 500ms
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 24.1 Mbps

Main thing here is not frame dropping.
It is that we now manage to save overall bitrate.
This was the reason for this patch.

VA Bitrate adjustment: - 20.000.000 - 9,9 MB
VA Bitrate adjustment: - 16.000.000 - 8,1 MB
VA Bitrate adjustment: - 10.000.000 - 5,7 MB
VA Bitrate adjustment: - 6.000.000 - 3,4 MB
VA Bitrate adjustment: - 3.000.000 - 2,1 MB
VA Bitrate adjustment: - 1.000.000 - (camera can't write the file)

Thanks again.

Ptools patch for GF1 Firmware

Ptools patch for GF1 Firmware

I just read all about the fantastic job tester13 has been doing and patched the GH1 software for my girlfriends camera and when i went to load it realised she owns a GF1

How can i mod her GF1 firmware to at least just change the japanese version of firmware to english...?

This is the firmware. The .bin file is inside this file.

I dont have much programming knowledge, but if someone tells me the rough steps involved, ill give it a try.

Like the GH1, there are so many people living / working in Japan that own this camera that thought it would have english menus but who were very dismayed to find it is in Japanese only - a DSLR camera in Kanji is very complicated to operate in this state!:badputer:

On the other hand if tester13 or someone equally capable wouldn't mind hacking this for Jap to Eng option, we would also be more than happy to make a donation towards the GH1 project!

Thanks in adance

Andy

The more I read this, the more I think that you are some trader who have high hopes to make new business out of this.:undecided

As soon as I'll have GF1 body I'll release this interface patch.

As soon as I'll have GF1 body I'll release this interface patch (in about one day timeframe). So, if any firm is interested, you are welcome :)

I looked at the bin file and it is not encrypted.
Definitely doable.

Good luck.

It is not that I don't want it, it is just legal issues only.
As I have GH1 nearby owned by guy who initially asked to move my research from TZ5 to GH1, but I can't experiment on it's body (and he do not use any of current patches anyway). But do not have GF1.
Plus I don't like some business people whose only intent is to export japanese bodies to gray market.

Hey hows it going ... Im the new one ^^ I had been lookin for a modified firmware a few moths ago, more or less sporadically, but yesterday I stumbled upon this project and as i see, the progress you make is very promising. So, donation´s on the way, looking forward to more improvements, like the mentioned hdmi output, and maybe even 120 fps (would be sweeet)
Vitaly - youre the man - keep goin !

Forgive me if i missed something, i am still busy reviewing the other 100 pages of this topic :)

With best regards from germany

ha i am not a buisness man! i own a TS1 shockproof camera (in english) and we are about to go on a road trip to alaska. We want to take some quality pics to enlarge on our return an my camera sux for that purpose (its great when snowboarding, but thats about it!) .

My gfs GF1 is way better but we have no idea how to use it. she didnt take my advice while teaching english in japan to buy the more expensive ENG version, instead arguing that it would help her learn Kanji, and that eventually people like yourself would come to her rescue (she cited CHDK, which is what I used to use on an old Canon SD850IS until it got stollen grrr). So as much as it pains me to say it - i am glad she was right ;P (well at least about the 'people like you' part.... it didnt help her to learn Kanji at all LOL). As a CHDK user, I totally understand that you will unleash awesome powers from these cameras, but all we need right now is the ability to use ours in english - not outputting in HDMI etc... (although I am sure someone will figure that out too)

Re the buisness idea -that IS a bloody good idea!!!

Just for your info i am at home with a broken collar bone (from snowboarding) and I spent hours posting links to this thread on other GH1 forums, promoting YOUR work, and encouraging people to support it.

I hope you see an increase in donations and my gf and I think you are a freaking LEGEND!!!

Thanks again mate!

And remember - theres a new series of firmware updates for the GH1, GF1 and G1s apparrently released on Monday May 10th. I dont know how these update will affect your fabulous work done so far, but I just thought you should know.

All the best

Andy

Specially note to someone who don't get my previous post :)
I can make this patch in a few minutes, but I won't release it until we'll have GF1 body. It is not that I don't want it, it is just legal issues only. I read your posts very carefully and clearly understood that the patch is doable and you can do it very quickly.

Now please add one modification I was suggesting - make the patched firmware load previous versions. Just one instruction needs to be modified. Instead of testing that the new version is higher than the current one, it should test that is not the same. This is how TZ7 works anyway.
With this modification you will get many more enthusiastic testers.

Good luck.

I got it. Anyway, to keep it legal I need GF1 nearby.

This is very old news :)

No, it is not one instruction.
And GH1 is much more complicated with lens related parts and other settings included inside firmware. So, reverting back is very bad idea.
As I already said in case of very serious trouble I could provide private version that can allow you to revert to 1.22 firmware.
Releasing this patch to public will just result in many bricked bodies (especially considering new v1.30 and ability to move back to 1.22), do you want this?

I forgot about the related lens firmware.
This may be the reason why they decided to allow firmware updates only in one direction, whereas on the fixed lens cameras they let it go both ways.

So basically we can tell people to play with these patches but try to stay under 1.3. This way when the official 1.3 release is out they can always update to that one before shipping the camera to Panasonic for service.

Today I have Firmware 1.85 ver. ;-) This camera cost too low for any headache. Remember, new AG-AF100 :) 6000 $

You can alway tell the service people that the camera was dropped and it caused the version level to go 1.86 after which it became a brick. ;)
They will charge you for a new main motherboard and service.
About $300.00 in total. We will collect the funds to reimburse you.

Good luck and thanks for your testing work.
Very impressive.
Did you have a chance to see if the error messages you are getting are also registering in the diagnostics memory?

Incorrect. I'll provide such patch to testers as apparently they are knowing that they are doing. So, no reason to stay under v1.30.
