GH1 and GF1 valid serial range

Just ordered mine a few days ago, serial is we0fd0012xx :(

So here comes a few questions:

1/ With newest GH1/firmware, is there at least a tiny improvement from early GH1/firmware (2009) concerning mud in 1080p ?

2/ Do we know if 1.34 is an anti-hack firmware or simply a yet-unreleased firmware ? Has it been dated ?

3/ Dumb question but, has anyone tried 1.32->ptool increment +3->1.35->patch ?

3/ Tried it, and it doesn't work. Also tried 1.43, 2.43, etc

Just bought a GF1+20mm kit from cameraland on ebay w/ a $100 rebate. The serial # is 0D. Camera came in today.

firmware version is 1.1

My GH1 is unhackable. The serial number is WE0FD0011xx. It seems that this is around the cutoff point as others are reporting hackable cameras below WE0FD0010xx.

If only I'd ordered a week earlier! (Actually they weren't in stock anywhere for that week).

Where did you order and buy?

Is there anyone to know the year of manufacturing of these GH1 units:

FS9LD003690
FS9LD003314
FS9LD003381
FS9LD003399
FS9LD000772

And if are these hackable?

Yes, they should be hackable.

I just hacked my cam which was FS9L.

Third letter/digit is year - 9 means 2009. (eg. 9 = 2009, 0 = 2010)

Fourth letter/digit is month - L is December (eg. A=January, B=February, etc.)

So you want one before June 2010, ie. before "0F" as third and fourth letter/digit.

All those look fine, they're December 2009.

I'm pretty sure the "F" at the front means Japanese model, which is NTSC, so when you hack you'll want to make it PAL/NTSC switchable if you live in PAL land.

Make sure when you hack you watch Matt's great tutorial:

GOOD LUCK!

Hello everyone.
I'm Italian and I apologize for my bad English.
I found a GH1 in one store in Rome (is not easily accessible even in the best professional photography shop).
First, I want to check the serial number to be sure of the hack.
But I ask you: whatever the year of construction and the firmware version installed (even the 1.34), if I install the firmware 1.2 I eliminate any incompatibility issue?
Tank you.

If the camera has version 1.34 on it, you will not be able to hack it at this time.

if i understand your question correctly, no you cannot downgrade to v1.2. It will only allow upgrade until you do the patch with version compare, then you can put v1.2 on after but its pointless =)

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.
Install the firmware 1.2 to circumvent the problem of the presence of firmware 1.34.
From the answers that you gave me, means that the firmware 1.34 dont' downgrade to version 1.2
The Panasonic can also you withdraw the GH1 unsold, to install the new version of firmware 1.34, also any models produced 2009 but remained in stock from sellers.
Then it would be useless even verify the serial number of the GH1.
The seller does not allow you to turn on the camera to see menu version of firmware installed.
You have only to buy GH1 boxed.

The firmware version is 1.1. Serial # WE9S...

What do those first numbers of the serial # mean?

If the number is the year of manufacturing, the letter "S" is?

The letter "S" is the 19th of the alphabet! The year has only 12 months... :cheesy:

I bought just 1 hour ago the GH1, with serial number WE9SB001091.
I doubt that cannot be hacked: from reading the serial number, appears to be built in 2009 but the letter S to which month refers?
It is good or not ?
In case the GH1 can be hacked, where are the last instructions that I must follow to install the Vitality's firmware?
Tank you for your attention.

ps
by menu:
body firmware ver. 1.1
lens firmware ver. 1.1

This letter "S" is really interesting. I mentioned it some time ago in the same thread, but it is still unresolved:

I made a short attempt to match those couple letters to the japanese calander...it made no sense to me so I gave up..haha.

This is just a thought....

What if the "S" represents "July-different batch". The 19th month of the original year, (if you kept counting), would end you up in July again.
What if there was an original batch from July that would've had WE9G...as the serial #----and then say - there was a change in location for the manufacturing plant, or something to this effect..... Causing Panny to have to mark these serial numbers differently but still have to identify to the same year and month i.e. WE9S...??

....or as was mentioned, 'S' could just stand for special:Drogar-Thinking(DBG

pure speculation--regardless if it's an 09' model, you're probably good to go:cheesy:
