Getting gh4 -- need help

I plan on buying a gh4 this week. I just have a few questions.

1. Is b and h a good place to buy? They are selling it for $1497.99. Is that the best deal right now?

2. Will my old gh2 lenses work with the gh4?

3. Are there any reliable memory cards that are not outrageously expensive that can handle 4k recording?

4. I have a bunch of canon ef lenses. To use them on the gh4, not have to deal with a huge crop factor and be able to control the f-stop on non manual lenses, is this what I will need to buy: metabones speed booster s?

Thanks!

I can try to answer three of your questions,

1. B&H is a great place, I would not hesitate to buy from them
3. I have really good luck with this card - Transcend 128 GB High Speed 10 UHS-3 Flash Memory Card 95/60 MB/s - 128GB is $74 on amazon
4. Yes that is the speed booster you want 'Metabones Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster "S" Version'

Thanks.

Also, I have a Marshall 1080 hdmi portable monitor. When shooting in 4k, can you monitor on a 1080 monitor? Will there be an image delay because of hdmi?

any other must have accessories to get the gh4 up and running?

When their online store is actually open, I prefer to buy from B&H. Unfortunately, I end up having to buy a lot from other sources because they're closed (even online) a huge chunk of the year.

I got my GH4 from Hot Rod Cameras when everyone else was buying from B&H and they were back-ordered for over a month. I got great service and a great price.

Thanks for the kind testimonial DigitalBard!

Because of the instant rebate that Panasonic is currently offering. A lot of Panasonic dealers are trying to "sweeten the pot" with extra add-on to attract attention on Black Friday, the large corporate shops are offering a free generic battery, or a memory card, which might have a value of $5-$20. I saw one company offering a free cheap piece of software that was actually incompatible with the GH4, clearly the big shop did not know this.

Hot Rod Cameras has an offer as well, however we negotatied a deal on a "no fault" GH4 extended warranty, which means if you get your GH4 wet, or drop it off a ladder, nearly anything will be covered for 3-years with free repair or replacement camera. Every GH4 sold by HRC during this November/December 'instant rebate' gets this warranty for free. We are the only company doing this, and it's a $200 value. My hope is that no one will ever need it, but if they do pick up a bag and forgot to zip the top (as I have), the experience won't be tragic.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks.

Yes you can monitor 1080, and yes there is a small delay from the HDMI output.

Number one accessory will be a lens, or an adapter to mount a lens you already have. Number two will be a memory card, every other accessory will depend on what you are shooting.

HRC's free 3-year extended warranty is sweet. The current $1499 price is the same practically everywhere right now (B&H, Amazon, etc.), but I'm directing anyone who's looking to pick up a GH4 to HRC while the warranty promotion is live. Shipping isn't free like it is at B&H or Amazon, but it's not too bad.

You don't need anything major for shooting 4K. As long as it's a U3 card you should be sorted. The 128GB cards are big, but keep in mind that Panasonic only officially supports cards up to 64GB for the GH4. The nice thing is that 2 of Transcend's 64GB SD cards is cheaper than a single 128GB card, so you get more compatible cards and pay less too. Here's more detailed information on memory cards for the GH4.

All of your lenses that work with the GH2 should definitely work with the GH4. That's the magic of a standard lens mount :)

Both the original EF Speed Booster or the "S" version EF Speed Booster are compatible with the GH4. The main difference is that the "S" version is compatible with Olympus cameras and the original version is compatible with cameras that have passive M4/3 mounts (like the BMCC) because it can be powered externally.
