[FS: General] Gear Stolen in Baltimore, MD

Insurance is key! It's a drop in the bucket compared to what it would cost to replace any decent gear.

This is very unfortunate. I suspect someone must have seen you put the gear in the trunk.

You practically have to have two assistants (one at the car, one at the venue) when you have to make multiple trips back and forth to load/unload.

I would be interested to hear who uses a one-trip large rolling case and how you deal with stairs etc. Does anyone have one of these "defcon" alarms that sound off if a case is moved after you arm it?

I seem to recall seeing a few of these in use at airports (security does not like these gadgets as they cause a panic when they go off).

Up to recently I had a German Shepherd as my assistant. She was great for watching over equipment.
 
Yep, years ago I bought a Defcon on a deal with a new laptop, but only used it a few times. You get too complacent and I read where some thieves will cut the cable and take off. I never leave the laptop anyway.

Also never buy brightly colored Pelican cases, or any other brand. You'll occasionally see them on special as loss leaders on the web.
Outdoors they're like beacons, attracting unwanted attention.
