The "Who" Behind the "Where"
Los Angeles, CA - "Where's my Kinetica!?"
You've seen the billboards. There's more of them out there than 7-11's. But what the hell is "Kinetica"? Attempts to contact the highly secretive company have failed. The company's "headquarters" is a small building on the Sony lot. We can make out people moving about inside through the limosine-tint windows, but nobody ever answers the door.
An online bank? A car insurance company? High colonics in a pill? Who knows. But we do know the "who" behind the billboards.
Advertising newcomer Gato Loco, a division of Cine Alma Pictures, is behind the Kinetica billboard campaign. We have also learned that Gato Loco will be producing a number of planned network television commercials for the mysterious company. Filmmaker and Cine Alma founder J. Anthony Gonzales will be writing and directing the 30-second spots. Confirmed cohorts include Signature Production's own Brandon Rice and award-winning composer Herman Witkam.
"The first spot cycle will start on August 1st. This is our first real ad gig, so it's kind of a sink or swim situation. I'm looking forward to working with a number of talented and creative people," Gonzales said.
Gonzales could neither confirm nor deny any guess as to what Kinetica actually is, but he did have this to say about the first television ad, "It's kind of like Jean-Claude Van Damme meets Gort as sponsored by Huggies."
Of course the question everybody wants to know is, will the commercial be in color?
"All my stuff is shot in color," Gonzales replied with a smile.
What about a talking dog?
Gonzales simply answered, "Woof."
We can only imagine what Gato Loco and Kinetica have in store for television. God help us all.
