GATHERING SOULS.......A Richard Johnson Film

This was really high quality work Richard. Looked very pro, especially the cinematography, the acting, and the special effects (the arm marks and blood were awesome).

Because it was so good, and because you are getting so strong as a filmmaker, I'm going to be nitpicky.

The story wasn't really my thing. I like to have someone to relate to, and there was no hero here. It would have been really cool if one of the two victims had survived and gotten the drop on the cop guy at the end.

I thought the extreme editing moments, for ex. the stabbing moment, seemed unnecessarily over-the-top. The music as well felt too epic for me, too much. I think you were pushing so hard to make this film impressive, you pushed a little too hard. The movie is exciting and interesting as it is, it doesn't need so much decoration.

Regardless, an incredibly solid entry that I'm sure will place well. You are a for serious director and filmmaker, and I respect you immensely.

VERY different from The Charl(y)ie Factor. That shows a lot of range. Too bad you didn't save this one for this year's upcoming horror-type fest. I thought the acting was top notch. The look was good, too. I had a problem with the guy and girl not having blood on them after stabbing the couple before the next two came in. I initially expected the two guys to be doing the same thing as the guy and the girl, just on a higher level...well, maybe they were...

Very nice, Richard.

Good story from Keaton, too.

WOW...Richard... Great film man! (like there was ever a doubt) I really got into it...it...sucked me in.
I did not see that coming. Looked great, sounded great.
Again, I'm not seeing anything that jumped out at me, I really enjoyed this film...very high on my list so far.

Congratulations to cast & crew....and all those heavy-hitters in the credits!

This was cool. It's hard to put a finger on it but it all just seems to work. Looks great as well. I for one actually loved the score. I felt it really drove the feeling you were going for visually.
The characters were very interesting in their own way. Very nice work.

Excellent film and script (Keaton). You put in some work, Rich and it shows. Great concept here. I dug it, big-time! The actors did their thing, especially the couple and I like what you did with the action. The pacing was very good and the effects and blood and gore was really cool. The couple on the bed really did a nice job as well. People don't realize how important small roles can be, but they're a key component. Keep puttin' in work, bruh!

Thank you Marlon! on many levels.

Thank you Jason! You can nitpick my films anytime man. You already know how I feel about your work.

Thank you for checking it out Blaine. I always wait for your review. We wanted to have them bloody but we shot that scene after the 15th Hour and truth be told, I just forgot to do it.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) I am very glad you enjoyed it.

Thank You MAH! I really can not say that enough man.

Man, I loved the look of those teeth!

Thank you kyle. Paulie Broke them when he took them out of the package. apparently they are very fragile. So they kept falling out, luckily we got what we needed. Thank you for checking it out!:cheesy:

I like that typical cowboy, wester, texas "hooooooowdy" accent :2vrolijk_08:

Specialy being a non-american non native cowboy-english talking european :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

Few remarks: sometimes the dialogue of the lady is little bit to low. Don't be afraid of mixing things up. I know it's maybe because of background noise etc... But don't be afraid to push things up.

The steps from the guy, I think the sound of the surface is not 100% as the image is ? And some sync isues also of the steps.

Missed the "crack" sound when he moves his neck.

I like the sounds when he eates the lady.

In general it's very good.

And I wonder... can he declare his bills for the laundry ? :2vrolijk_08:

Thanks for checking it and especially for the suggestions. Sound design is one of my weaker skills. I could not find a good neck crack sound anywhere. It started to drive me crazy so I just left it. I tried Soundsnap and a few others but they all sounded lame.

And no he can't.:2vrolijk_08:

You know what... sound designers can't neither...

But, mostly we use sound of breaking branches, or the best is seldery, or another "hard" vetgetable like carrot, maybe beans (the green ones)....

Or a turning a plastic jarr can help also.

I would have never thought of anything like that. Although the cigarette put-out I did with my mouth. sssssssssss

The quality of your films just keeps improving by leaps and bounds. In my humble opinion, you are the most improved filmmaker over these last few fests (not that you were that bad to begin with) :) But I would say your work now has that "pro" feel.

Very impressive on many levels.

It reminded me of the motel scene from The Devil's Rejects in many ways. Being a fan of Rob Zombie's films, I dug it!

Great job.

Wow. That just made my day Max. Thank you.

Wooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.........speechless. We have the festival winner right here. One of the most top notch and professional things I've ever seen on DVX. I don't even have to watch the rest of the entries (Ok I will anyway) because this is just the obvious winner. Every facet of it is 100% professional and if I were to see this playing on HBO tonight I wouldn't notice the difference. Mind bogglingly good, 10/10

Man, THANK YOU. I don't even know how to respond to that. I'm speechless, Just thank you and I'm VERY VERY happy you enjoyed it.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Totally made my day.

Howdy Richard! Excellent work here, definitely one of my favs. I thought the mood was quite fun, a nice blend of horror and over the top wickedness. The two leads (killers) had a perfect level of creepy mayhem about them. Only real criticism I can come up with is that the pacing was a little disparate - slow buildup and very quick resolution. Not a big deal though, kind of reminded me of Dusk till Dawn. Thumbs up.

Coming from you it means a lot. Thanks for the Honest review. I still have a ton to learn but I'm glad you enjoyed it. It means a great deal!

Was this a true western? Who cares. I liked this one. Good blood effects and make up. Good story. I like how nonchalant the law man was at the end. I did catch a goof, saw your camera in the picture reflection but we're all filmmakers, normal audience probably wouldn't see it. There was a slight lull at the midpoint when #2 left the room, not sure if you need to tighten the edit or cut to something or have #1 say something. The score was great. I liked the taking of the soul effects. Great work!

Richard, you and your team did a great job with this pulp story. I watched the previous versions and all the little tweaks, many of which I couldn't put my finger on, all add up to make the overall film better. Congrats on a great job!

Thank you and good catch I did not even notice that! I appreciate the comments. Francesco did a great job on the score. IMO.

Thanks Chris. you gave me some good material to work with. This is the first time I worked with a script that wasn't mine. Your opinion really helped me out.
