Yeah arguably the 5Dmk3/GH2/etc already took us to this point of "good enough".

Question about power.
If a Canon battery is 1865 mAh and runs up to 60 minutes is it safe to say that a USB-c power brick with 10000 mAh could run for up to 5 hours? I realize 60minutes may be a very liberal estimate and may sometimes only be 30 minutes based on usage. If that were the case would the power brick still manage 2.5 hours?
Using velcro to attach a power brick to the camera is not optimal but I think it might not be too cumbersome. Could the internal battery then be used for just hot swapping of power bricks?
Note that the early reports of clean images at high ISOs are with NO noise reduction, making it all the more attractive. Unlike the GH-series, NR and sharpening isn't mandatory.
I think I will get one. That purity approach from BMD has always appealed to me. The big thing is, what is the OLPF situation?
But you can run a fast USB-C connected hard drive on this thing, that is sure to reduce the media costs. Might need a small array of spinning drives to keep up, but large SSD drives are coming down in price every month. It was smart to add the USB-C media option.
But I agree that I am going to wait until I see the images from a real production version. Hopefully they fixed the moire issues that made the third party manufacturers make the OLPF additions. It would be so easy to include it as it is produced, even if it can be swapped by the user between one optimized for 4K, 1080, and none (clear glass) like some other cinema cameras. Let the user decide how clean the image should be before capture.
Pretty much this. I am more interested in the E2 Z cam at this point. Although the BM Pocket 4k is amazing.Yes you can use a SSD drive but the files are still vastly larger than 150mbps 4k on the GH5. You can shoot for much longer on a smaller SD card vs a SSD. ProRes HQ is 5x larger than the 150mbps on the Gh5 for roughly similar quality. A 256GB SD card would require a larger than 1TB SSD for the same record time. That means you need to buy a 2Tb SSD to record as long. Plus a SSD may not be very practical for long form run&gun projects where the drive could accidentally get disconnected. If one wants to use a USB-C power supply I’m pretty sure they can’t use an external drive as well.
Of course HD is always an option but then isn’t that compromising the quality vs what the GH5 can do in the same space?
expensive USB-C SSD drive that will cost almost as much as the CFAST cards will.
As many others have correctly stated, shooting longer than a few minutes at a time begins to introduce way too many logistical headaches.
This is just more pixels of the same raw we have experienced from BMD for years now.
In twenty years I have also never been in a situation where even an 8bit compressed format couldn't be graded well.

I film weddings with the current Pocket. The Pocket 4K will only make my job easier.
I have with the GH4. Which is why I switched to the Pocket. Much improved image at a lower price.
You do realize the files will be 4x larger than the Pocket HD? That’s a huge cost increase for a wedding. Not just in terms of shooting but editing and archive as well.
