Hi
Working a lot with this camera. I wish I could change the WB and aperture setting while recording, but you can't.
With my HMC150 I can set up my WB balance and aperture and if the sun begins to light up the room, I can change things on the spot and still keep recording. I have not found a way to change things once I hit record on the g30. What is your experience?

For filming sports what is best , AVCHD or MPEG4, and what recording mode? 24, 28, or 35 Mbps?

I find myself shooting mostly in camera/avchd/M and not auto or cinema.
I filmed an interview twice now in auto mode, and no change to indoor lights, and the light level on my footage will change slightly. But shooting in M, and setting the WB, and aperture I am getting great results. I shoot side by side with my HMC150 and when set to the same WB, the footage from the 2 cameras looks very close. This is all with good lighting.
So my other question, when shoot indoor and interviews, what is the best recording mode and should I still use AVCHD?
Just confused a little to when I need 35 Mbps or less. I assume it deals with more quality equals file size. But is it needed and will I see a difference?
Thanks.

As i have said before i did many tests & looking at raw footage[test cards and general film with detailed scenes]i found no extra video performance with Mpeg4 or 28Mbps over 24Mbps,with 24Mbps there is more card space and less hassle editing. If your setup handles Mpeg4 it may be better for sports but i personaly will stick with 24Mbps.

Thank you for doing the test. HAve you tested the footage and applied slow motion in your video editing. I wonder if that would make a difference.

I agree, why would you increase the file size if you don't see a difference.
Thanks again.

No slow motion, only test cards and filming scenes on a tripod with much detail regarding bit rate tests.
