Fully Loaded Red Camera Pic

Curt you are amazing..

Curt you are amazing..

Being a lightwave guy, I can really respect the incredible talent you show here.. I have no doubt the guys at RED are also impressed (I'd be surprised if you have not gotten an E-mail or somthing from them by now)

But if you have the time, let's make you the Ambassador to all of us out there who would like to SHOW the RED guys what we would like:

How about the following changes:

Lets redesign the lower portion of the RED cage to have those bars actually be 15mm rods. There are two different spacings in this world, I believe there are Arri Rods, and then the other which puts the two rods closer together. Feel free to redesign the cage to accomidate them. It's a very important issue in film and video since these rods are the support system for most things.

Next, lets take another look at that viewfinder, position and placement is great, but let's beef up it's support in order to handle the abuse we KNOW it's going to get.

On the back of the cage, let's deal with something that is a major issue, we need some loops to feed cables through, lord knows there will be a lot of them. This is also something you need to think about in design. Cable connecters on all sides of the camera could be a nightmare. I would suggest all cables that will go off-camera on one side or back, and all cable connectors that stay "on-camera" on the other side.

Curt, no kidding, you could be the "guy" to give us a voice sine RED is running crazy right now with the interior side of things.

Jay - I'd be more than willing to take everyone's ideas and make them into pseudo-reality. I'll take a stab at your suggestions and see what I can mock up. I'm trying to finalize my own product by cinegear but there's always a few hours here and there to fit in some RED work.

I don't think you can have a camera like that without the beer rods. Good job and a must have
And you made them PRB that is just the Shiz Nit

I like those suggestions. The 15mm rods should be a no brainer. Some sort of harness on the back to place the stress of the cables on the cage instead of the camera would be awsome. I did a wrestling gig and had the cables tied off on a carabiner on my back belt loop, so if the cables were exiting from the back and over my shoulde would be a great design. In film, not quite as important but I still think I'd like them in the back. Also all of those wireless devices we seem to alway have to hang on the camera.

Hey Jarred,

I know it will have them, but HOW is the question. As the cage is now, it would required the rod holders to be attached in some way. I am suggesting we redesign the cage to make this a part of the design itself.

Seriously!

No offense to Jannard of course, but before these renders I was not at all excited about Red's form factor.

Chalk it up to my lack of imagination - but now that I can see how it might all potentially come together, I'm much more impressed/intrigued with the design.

I think its great what CVB has done with his incredible talent.. he has allowed us to see the camera in its glory, something the RED team probally would like to stay away from doing so they didnt need to commit to things.

Now Curt.. here is a job for you. go take the 200+ suggestions from the red contest thread and add them ALL to the camera ha ha ha ha. Ill see you in a year.

Seriously though, Curt gets my personal post of the month vote for what he has done.

What in the..Whoa!

These renders have really piqued my interest. The "official" renders just seemed so...dull. Curt gets my vote of the month too!

I'll get right on that ;)

Thanks for the compliments Jarred.

I've been on the road and haven't had time to post for a few weeks...

Nice renders CVB. As many of my Hawaiian friends would say: :"Eeeets da kine braddah!"

yeah gibby you missed some good stuff going on around here.. we are seeing some very cool shiznit.

Very nice images!

It's because of these images I really for the first time 'grasp' the idea of the cages, really great!

Nice stuff. Just one first remark about the usability of the LCD supports. As it looks, the LCD can't be adjusted in position or angle, because it's supported by two fixtures. You'd definitely want a ball-joint of some sort in there, so you can adjust the LCD.
