Full frame/crop sensor for photography vs video

Hi,
i see quality improvement between canon 60d and full frame mark iii in terms of pictures (photography) quality.

But, for video, especially if you send it to youtube, does full frame/crop sensor really makes a difference in terms of quality, since video is less megapixels??

Thanks in advance,

Full frame gives a wider field of view, meaning with a 35mm lens you'll see the entire 35mm field. Full-frame collects more light, so that also means even shallower focus. There are several advantages to a full-frame sensor, but shallow DoF is SO overdone that it's really the least of those advantages.

Personally, for video, I have been perfectly happy shooting on an APS-C sensor. As long as my lens is fast enough (and for a zoom, constant-aperture), I never miss the extreme shallow focus of full-frame.

If you're wanting to mimic fullframe motion picture film (movies) APS-C is fullframe in that regard. If I was stills focused, I'd go with a 5D, but since my focus is movies, I stick with APS-C.

It's not just sensor size: the 60D is 5-years-old tech (aliasing/moire, like every other APS-C Canon except maybe the 7D2), the 5D3 is 2-years-old tech (no aliasing/moire, but soft and with less DR than, say a D810 or an a7s), the 5D3+RAW is state-of-the-art (great all around, and with excellent color).

Also, check this.

I went from a 60D to a 5D, couldn't have been happier. This was ages ago though, 5D isn't such a great video buy now

Cool link there man.

That's the kind of thing that can clear up confusion really fast for people.
