Fujitsu P2 card reader help needed

Hello I have not actually used a PC since DOS (1987). I picked up a Fujitsu Lifebook for the sole purpose of dumping P2 cards while on location. Thus far I have not been able to get it to read my cards (16 gigs). I have installed the P2 CMS software on my Mac and it works wonderfully. The Fujitsu runs Vista and I can't find a version of the CMS for Vista. Is there one out there? Do I need to switch this PC to Windows? Do I even need the CMS if all I intend to do is pass field loaded files to my Mac? I did insatll the P2 reader/veiwer but it's not working.

I'm pretty sure this isn't difficult - if anyone can explain what I need and what I need to do I'd sure appreciate it.

I'm sure it's operator error in some way. I'd preffer not messing with changing out the OS if there's no need.

Forgive my noobiness - I'm new to filmmaking but even newer to this PC.

Thanks, friends - Daniel

P2CMS doesn't eliminate the need to install the P2 drivers themselves, they are still needed in order to recognize the cards. Once the cards are recognized, P2CMD can manage the contents.

I have also a fujitsu lifebook with vista installed. It locks me up halfway in the middle of uploading a 16g p2. cannot even hard reset the computer. after that happens to me, i have decided to switch the os to xp pro and never happened to me again, knock on wood. what i have done is downloaded all the drivers needed before i installed a new xp os.

FWIW, I too have a Fujitsu Lifebook (the A6110, possibly the same model you guys have). I'm running the Vista Home Premium (now on SP1) that came with it, and I've not had any issues offloading 8GB or 32GB cards.

I'm not a big fan of Vista and would have preferred XP, but as new systems and devices come out, it will be less and less likely that the needed drivers are included with or even available at all for XP. Most new systems with a few exceptions at the low end can't be sold with XP anymore, so it doesn't make sense for vendors of integrated peripherals like network adapters, sound cards etc. to write drivers for XP and get them WHQL-certified.

Thanks - I have plenty to digest here. Based on the http://panasonic.sixbullets.net/ link it doesn't appear as simple as I had hoped.

This may be a stupid question, if I format my P2 cards for my PC Laptop does that mean they will no longer work with the P2 CMS I have on the Mac?

Thanks again - Daniel
