If you recall from your retail days - the profit margin on a $1,500 camera would be about $500 for a typical outlet that wants to gets a decent allocation of the most popular items and a solid advertising support from the manufacturer. After that, off the majors financial statement, the profit margin are somewhere around 50% (this may include some fixed costs too), more on the higher end, lower on the low, more on lenses, less on the camera bodies themselves.... On an inexpensive mirrorless camera, say one that retails for about $1,500.00, how much do you think it costs the manufacturer to produce? Let's just throw out a completely fictitious number and take a WAG and say that $1,500.00 retail camera costs the manufacturer say, $800.00 to $900.00 to actually make. .
