in the 50mm f/1.8 II review it says theres no FTM, so i cant manual focus while recording? or what? im confused they have this in the kit lens of the 18-135mm also...

FTM refers to the ability to manually adjust critical focus while in Auto Focus mode. While shooting video, you will want to focus in manual mode and not auto mode so this feature does not really matter much for video. In taking still pictures, it is a nice feature that allows you to make corrections in the Auto focus on the fly without having to switch over to manual focus.

Most Canon USM and Sigma HSM lenses feature FTM. I find having FTM quite useful when working with zoom lenses. I can get faster, more accurate focus using a combination of QuickAF/MF on my T2i than by MF alone.

The focus ring on the 50mm 1.8 II is probably the worst I've ever used on a lens period. Forget about using a follow focus with it..the gear threads are at an angle and won't work properly. If you want a 50mm prime, stick with the Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM.
