FS: Steadicam Merlin

UPDATE: Merlin has been SOLD.

I'm nowhere good enough to begin seriously using this - i barely know how to compose shots on a tripod, much less while moving!

So, I bought this new from B&H a couple of months ago, pulled it out for 2 HOURS and walked around my in-laws' backyard, and then put it in my bag where it's been ever since. Why not save a little money?

This is a Steadicam Merlin with all the accessories that came with it, including the case and original box(!) for sale.

$715 shipped to the lower 48 states, unless you're in Phoenix, AZ, and then it's $700 (I'll just meet you somewhere in Phoenix). Cashier's checks and USPS money orders work well for me!

Pics should show up here.

thanks,
robert phillips

well, i guess everyone got a merlin for Christmas, eh? There's two currently on eBay; how about we'll watch those, and see what they go for, and then I'll consider, er, adjusting my asking price...

Yeah, I got one that I'm about to sell off myself (going with a 35mm apaptor instead). I'll be watching the ebay one's too, but it should sell for $715, it just may take some time.

good luck

I have a brand new one, unopened I'm selling for $725/obo. PM me if you're interested, I'm also going with a 35mm. Does nyone know if 35mm's are generally compatible with both DVX and HVX?

sorry, can't do... but you should check, i'm pretty sure you can't use a 35mm adapter with the merlin, it's pushing the weight capacity even without one...

Yup, a 35mm adapter is too heavy for the Merlin.
Generally speaking, 35mm adapters on Steadicam are a lot more hassle, and expense (35mm radio FF isn't cheap), than they are worth.

To all; Please don't hijack other's "for sale" threads to sell your own gear.

Yes it can.
It's been discussed many times up in the "Hardware" areas of the forum.

Lets try and keep this area for trading only.

Sorry, the only payment plan I can offer is a "one time, one payment" option. : )

But seriously, the first merlin on ebay went for $760. The second one is currently at $685.

cheers,
robert

Dxmetal,
I may end up selling it on ebay, but I'd prefer to give the opportunity to the people of this community, MAINLY because they have been so helpful to me in navigating learning/doing video production. I've been lurking around here (reading, not posting) for a while. That's all.
