How does one go from 200 to 700?I want to know how these numbers are chosen. What was wrong with 300, or 400?
Hint at the guys in the know.... would I be dreaming if this mythical 4K camera would be able to shoot 120fps at fx 2K?![]()
Not "in the know" but, if it were to do something like that, it would almost unquestionably be done by windowing the sensor (just like every other MOS camcorder out there does it). Which would mean that a faster-frame-rate 1080 would come at the expense of shallow DOF. Which, frankly, there's nothing wrong with that, but it sure seemed to cause some consternation among folks who were looking at the Scarlet, even though it should seem obvious...Hint at the guys in the know.... would I be dreaming if this mythical 4K camera would be able to shoot 120fps at fx 2K?![]()
As in, why isn't it an FS200?How does one go from 200 to 700?I want to know how these numbers are chosen. What was wrong with 300, or 400?
4K isn't in the AVCHD spec, it only goes up to 1080/60p, so presumably they would have to invent their own proprietary recording format, which is probably fine, I mean, what other 4K recording format is there? It's not too likely Red is going to license RedCode RAW to Sony, after all...
Are you kidding? The Scarlet brain is only a couple of grand more than that. Sony and Panasonic could do it if they wanted to, but their margins would be pretty thin. Still, they can buy or manufacture parts in far higher quantities than Red. Bu they also move much more slowly than Red, who came out with a cheapish 4K camera several years ago. Sony only now has the F65, and Panasonic has announced nothing but codecs -- yet.I would LOVE to see the link... did he mention specs?
Thanks for reporting!
If the 4K is somehow raw out of this camera, no matter how it gets there, that's saying something! I'm curious how you can do 4K for 8K, large sensor... hmm.
Shudder....4 1k streams?![]()
4k that reads 1080p is, of course, still nice... but if it can't record 2k or higher, is there really that much of a point?
