From the Future: A Musical

I saw some sound sync errors but it didn't bother me. I liked it and was pulled in from the beginning with the silliness of her future self. I was hoping they would start singing a little earlier in the movie. Good work.

Hahahaha. This was excellent. I agree that we could've gotten into the musical number sooner, but once we're there, there's no turning back.

Funny stuff, man.

Im going to leave the technical issues aside because it was just too darn enjoyable. Great job!!!!!

You really had me laughing in this one.

My only complaint was that there was just the one song and it started too late. Still that's impressive though. I'll be singing that tune all day.

Funny stuff! Really liked the parts where she was imagining her date killing her. Really liked it, good musical number for six minutes. Would have liked to have seen a little more dancing!

Too fun! Hammy at its best.

I think you could have brought in more harmonies with the extras, like in the style of the old musicals (Brigadoon), but in all a very, very enjoyable piece. One could tell the actors were really enjoying themselves.

I have to say that I am not a great fan of musicals, but I appriciate your courage to have made one. I have also to say that I enjoyed the film. I like the score and the film gave me a positiv feeling. All above I found the film very ironic. Well done.

Fun. to. Watch. i really dug the musical aspects. A lot of the technical issues have been covereed in previous posts. The hand held aspects of the camera work are a bit much, but i felt the movements you had (especially the first sweeping shot of the song) worked.

Very ridiculous and very fun.

Next time: more locations, more character development and more songs! I wanna see it!

I love it love it love it! The acting was great - up to the point where it turns into a musical, the acting skills were drawing me in already. But then it turns into a musical and WHAM! FUN FUN FUN!!!!! I was in Rocky Horror last year, so I'm in love with this short. Musicals are the best thing ever.

You had some clever lines/sequences. "A loaf of ... breeeadd". Funny stuff. Thanks for making it! What a blast.

Definitely in my top 5! Loved it. I may have had a download issue because the video was badly compressed looking, but I will redownload and see. I may have to keep this on my computer for future viewing on a rainy day! Great singers and music. I may need to keep you guys on my list of people to call for similar work!

Fun. You certainly had plenty of courage to take on a musical in a production like this (and in such a short time) and it actually worked fairly well. Singing was good.

In the past few days, DVXusers Ben Sliker and Justin Kuhn sat down and chatted over AIM while simultaneously watching the same TIMEFEST films. We call them, "The AIM sessions". Here's their thoughts on "FROM THE FUTURE: A MUSICAL"

happygobo (10:41:04 AM): this dialogue is a little rough
spesliker (10:41:18 AM): IN THE FUTURE
spesliker (10:41:28 AM): THERE'S ROBOTS
happygobo (10:41:29 AM): the singing shoudl ahve started right after "I"m you--from the future."
spesliker (10:41:32 AM): yeah
happygobo (10:42:02 AM): BA NUMP BA NUMP BA BAAAA FROM THE FUTURE
spesliker (10:42:06 AM): lol
happygobo (10:42:12 AM): he does look crazy.
spesliker (10:42:18 AM): i wish the sound was a little better, it's taking away from this being really funny.
happygobo (10:42:39 AM): AUUUGHHHH
spesliker (10:43:04 AM): this is hilarious
happygobo (10:43:17 AM): YES
happygobo (10:43:31 AM): funny expression there
spesliker (10:43:41 AM): i wonder if this is a commentary on timefest in general
happygobo (10:43:57 AM): haha
happygobo (10:44:05 AM): HAHA
happygobo (10:44:13 AM): if you'll believe that crap ... great line.
spesliker (10:44:19 AM): yeah
happygobo (10:44:20 AM): dark
spesliker (10:44:57 AM): i really want this to be better technically
happygobo (10:45:17 AM): yeah no kidding
happygobo (10:45:28 AM): could tighten up that first scene between them
spesliker (10:45:46 AM): cue timewarp effect
spesliker (10:46:15 AM): f*cking bold i gotta say
spesliker (10:46:50 AM): the song was great ... but i needed more from the pre-acting and cinematography
happygobo (10:47:47 AM): they could actually sing. now I want to do a musical
spesliker (10:48:03 AM): lol, we're not doing a musical.
spesliker (10:48:24 AM): the song needed proper mixing as well
happygobo (10:48:34 AM): yeah probably
happygobo (10:48:53 AM): damn good i say. bold at the least.
spesliker (10:49:05 AM): word.

Great job guys, as you can see, we really enjoyed this one, especially when the music started. Bold project to undertake. We wanted more!

Wow! Just Wow. Great job! The dialog before the song started was great, even if the performances could have been better. But once the song started, oh, my, musical theater satire! Loved it! My background is in live theater, so I totally appreciated the effort that went into this.

Only drawbacks were the sound mix (easily fixable by the right person) and the compression (I'm sure your full-res footage looks amazing). I want to see this again without the compression artifacts and blocky-ness. I'm not knocking points or anything for that, just that I think this film should be enjoyed in all its glory.

Good work.

I can't stop singing "I'm not from the fuuutuuure but I love you, i love you, i love you anyway!!!!" I enjoyed this movie a lot. I thought the picnic dialogue was hilarious and the musical part was hilarious. thumbs up!

This is the very reason that "I HATE IT.... AND LOVE IT AT THE SAME TIME" I can't get that stinking song outa my head....... AHHHHHHHH! :violent5:

Great job guys. Very funny, very cheesy. "It's like a zoo, but with more technology (paraphrasing) only not in cages" What the... :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

When he said, "I am YOU from the future" I thought oh no... and then the web of nonsense just got more weird and I thought okay... the guys a FREAK and he is trying to get a date with this girl... he is just digging a deeper whole... I am feeling it!

It all had an LDS / Saturday's Warriors flavor to me and I liked it and it annoyed me for those same reasons. It is like an evil ECHANTED borrowing into my brain.... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

As many have said... you obviously had lots of tech issues, but I really don't care because you made up for it in weirdness and quirky humor.

KEEP IT UP! I show the family and now my kids are singing the song! My wife doesn't like me to much right now... but that just makes it more humorous! Look forward to seeing more from you guys!

:crybaby:Almost two hours later.....:crybaby:

:crybaby: THAT SONG IS STILL IN MY HEAD!!!!! AHHHHHHHH! :crybaby:
