Sweet jeez.....Not Bubbles!

(OK, almost leaving now...)

No offense meant at all to you Bryan btw, good luck with your future work and I look forward to seeing your DVX work. The actors involved in this short definitely seem to have the ability to go over the top, that should make for some interesting stuff down the road (hey, I did find something positive after all  ).

Those cats look retarded. Ohhhh...controversy!

Anyway, I don't quite appreciate the hijacking of this thread. But it seems like you folks have stopped listening to what I've been saying. Ah well. At least Mino knows what's going on!

It's either hijack or face the big turning of the key. This manuever is called thread rescue evasive tactic alpha six in which we post silly pictures until the temperature drops or bubbles gets me:laugh:

Are you nut's?....I had a very big crush on Lady penelope until I found out she was made of wood!

You can't argue opinions, no one's right and no one's wrong.

Sorry to Hijack the Hijack, but I've been thinking about this.

What if it was "Freddy the precognitive Nigger" or "Santos the Spic" or "Chow the Gook" and it centered on negative stereotypes of a certain ethnic community? Would that be as quickly overlooked, or would there be a rash of "Hey man, that isn't cool" and "That's not what we're about here"

Ridiculous you say? Not so. The only difference is the demographic. "Retard" is as offensive to many as the racial slurs I mentioned above. Showing a retarded man get killed because he is retarded is no different than a lynching.

Again (and I can't emphasize this enough) I am not, and have not said that the clip offended me. I am also not saying that the thought process behind this film was malicious. I never assume someone else's intent. I am merely stating that there is no difference between picking on one group or another.

Yet one appears to be more acceptable to many people on this forum.

Damn Jim, why'd you have to bring up a very good point!? I was going to join in on the hijack fun.

Damn you! In an "I agree with that post" sort of way, if ya catch my drift.

Of course people would react differently. Everybody has their limits to what they deem offensive. It's what's so great of having a mind/opinion of our own.

Jim, there isn't much difference, but if you try hard enough you can find humor in just about anything. Take Chappelle's show for instance. The Rick James segment is hilarious. I watch it once a week and it kills me.

Are the mentally handicapped unfairly singled out for comedy, yes. Is it funny, yes. There's Something About Mary lampooned retards.

Are stereotypes of minorities used in comedy, yes. Does comedy take the piss out of everyone out there? Yes. I think most good comedy has an edge and bite to it. Is the short good comedy? No. It's pretty lowbrow, but it's got its moments. This argument needs to die.

It may not be PC to say, but at times the mentally handicapped can be unintentionally humorous. So too can blacks, jews, latinos, whites, polynesians, japanese, and fat americans. It's all fair game. Jim, I know the point you're making, but I think we're putting Bryan through the ringer. He's gonna have to find that balance between comedy and offense.
