FPN= hackable?

Apparently Nikon had a problem with banding FPN...fixed it with firmware. I've always read the problem was physical, but apparently from reading a few articles, it's the order in which the pixels are read for a quicker data read out...hmmm.

So far the hack hasn't changed FPN/noise, but there are specific Film Mode and exposure metering settings that reduce it to a point where it is, in my opinion, manageable. Click on emory's settings in my signature.

Nikon had a problem with hot/dead pixels. They fixed in firmware-which somehow allowed for re-mapping around the hot/dead pixel-it did nothing for FPN/Banding.
