Footage Imported To FCP Plays Too Fast

Sorry if this has been asked. I searched the forums but found no answers.

I've recorded tests in 720/30p, 720/24p, 1080/30p, and 1080/24p. All were imported into FCP 6.0.3 using the default ProRes 422 codec.

I've imported using the Log And Capture window. I've also dragged the folder clips off the card and onto the hard drive and pointed my log and capture window to that. But the same thing happens...

When I play back the clips in the viewer or the canvas, the audio plays at normal speed but the video is much faster. When the fast video ends, that's the end of the clip, the audio playing at normal speed just cuts out.

I've plugged in the USB wire into both the front and back ports of my computer. I tried the Apple Intermediate Codec too, with the same results.

Is this a camera setting? A Final Cut Pro setting? Do I need a new USB wire (As I'm used to FireWire, I don't know if there are wires specifically for USB 2.0 and others specifically for USB 1.0 and I happen to be using the 1.0).

Thank you.

This is a vague reply, so I apologize, but...

In your system preferences, under "other" do you have AVC encoder or AVC viewer or something like that? AVC something or other? I don't remember where it came from or what it was but it was there as a preference pane and I didn't know why, so I got rid of it.

I had the same problem as you until I removed it.

Also, do you have Perian installed?

Alright, well...

1) Updated to 6.0.4 and then even to 6.0.6 - I still have the same problem.

2) I do have Perian, and so I disabled it. I didn't see anything anywhere regarding "AVC" of any sort. But even after disabling - I still have the same problem.

I've also tried different USB ports. Nothing :/

I had this problem before more than one time and iam not the only one, and the only solution we found was to reformat et reinstall macosx and finalcut. We tried alot of things and it didnt work.

Which Mac?

What media drive are you using? Firewire or internal?

What are your sequence settings? What did you transcode to?

If this AVCHD, then don't use log and capture. You use log and transfer.

On the help bar on the top left of the screen type in easy setup.

Then,

Open up the bar and find the settings that will match your cameras capturing settings, then restart your computer and try it again.

The preference pane that seemed to be causing me trouble was "avc1decoder"

Also if you absolutely need to get things moving, while I was having this problem I used 'clipwrap' to transcode and it got the job done.
