follow focus question

ok i know this is a noob question before i ask but i'm new to dslrs and very unknowledgeable at the moment.

if i were to buy this follow focus for my 7d, is that all i need? how does it hook onto the 7d? and does it work with different types of lenses?

A follow focus requires gears that attache to the focus ring on the lens. The indiFocus comes with a set of such gears. Different lenses have different outer diameters and need different sizes of gears.

you'll also need a baseplate and rails; check out vocas, arri (i think mb-1 and various bits), zacuto and several others. Arri, in my opinion, make the best follow focus ring! - it's also usable on other cameras and should retain its value pretty well.

Just as another option I had all my Ziess lenses modded at Duclos Lenses in CA. The permanently attached focus rings are incredibly good.
