Focusing

Thanks, agin, let me a question
When I shot a thin lines shirt or thin lines, I move the focus point to disable the moire.

Or lose one or two steps of camera´s definition to correct this problem
any ideo to solve this?

As a brief follow-up, I have found the Laser amazing at calculating focus for interior shots. Unfortunately, I am still using my tape measure for exterior shots as you simply can't see the laser out doors. :(

After testing the HVX with a focus chart for the past hour or so, I can't seem to find an accurate "film plane".

At 2 feet, the focal plane is very close to the front element of the lens, but the further I move back, the further the focal plane moves towards the rear of the camera.

Is my HVX faulty, or can anyone else repeat these results????

Either way you need to use focus assist or an external monitor - there is no reason to use a laser measure since you can get "in the ballpark" by eye and then use focus assist.
 
Is there ANY way (whether setting or external attachment) to speed up the rate of focus like they have with the adjustable speed of the zoom? Is it a lens limitation or software?

Having to spin the focus ring round like two or three times to get from one end to the other is killing me.

External focus controllers like the VariZoom and FoxI will go from min to max in less than one turn.

That's not accurate for my camera.

Do this test next time you're out... set the camera so you are in focus at 5 feet according to the viewfinder and then measure back to the camera. The front of the lens measures to about 4'9" on my camera.
 
I keep trying to get people to see this line direct from the panny manual:

You cannot use the distance readout for critical focus - there is no reason to use it for ballpark focus cause you can use your eye. Just learn to use focus assist and you will always be tack sharp
 
I have heard from a few people that you can program the User buttons on this camera to different focal distances to rack different points with the push of a button. I haven't found anthing in the manual about this, but it would be a killer feature for shooting narratives. Is this true and if so, how can you program it to work?
 
I wanted to say how great it is that everybody shares his or her information on this site. It is a great learningschool for beginners such as me. I hope I can contribute to it in the future. Thanx everybody.
