I've shot some footage on the XH-a1 and am editing in FCP. When I monitor the capturing video and when I look at the imported footage, I've found that there is a noticable flicker and graininess not present when I look at the footage on the canon's LCD. The flicker seems to be between a slight red and green offtone in darker settings, and a flicker of brightness in well lit settings. Not really sure how to describe it, but it's constant.
I shot in HDV at 24f...I'm importing into FCP using firewire and the 1080p24 easy setting, with a frame rate of 23.998 ( or whatever that one is exactly)
I hooked the footage up to iMovie HD and although I couldn't import it because iMoive only does 30p ... when monitoring through iMovie, the flicker was gone. So I am positive this must be an issue between the XH-A1 and FCP.
Any thoughts, suggestions? I shot on the Letus Elite and my footage looks great on the LCD, but I need help making sure I can get it looking good on the computer. Originally I thought that I might have forgotten to turn on the vibrating grain glass, but the flicker is present in every shot, and I know I didn't forget to turn on the grain glass in every shot. Thanks!
Cheers,
matthew
