First video from the RED 4K demo!

Lets see some official footage of something that will really take our breath away without all that crazy compression a la Youtube.

Anyone know how soon we get to see the actual footage or stills? Would be great. =D But to know that another camera shot the footage is sitll cool. It's pretty well resolved.

The YouTube-vid was actually shot by Chris using my old Panasonic 3CCD-cam yesterday. He had the camera in his hand, resting his elbow on the seat in front of him...still...the show was great.

Today I used the same camera to shoot some footage of the mock-up camera's they had in the Red-stand at IBC2006. I'll edit that stuff and put in some of the Q&A Chris shot yesterday, but didn't use in that first video of his.

AWESOMEEEEEE ! ! ! ! ! !

One question though for the Red Gods, why did you choose to shoot everything behind black? Why not some outdoor stuff or something that was evenly lit ?

KEEP IT ON THE UP UP UP !!!

thank you

there was a few reasons for this.. first the camera at this stage needs very clean power and isnt the most portable unit in the world yet... pointing it out the door is about as good as they could do in 3 days. (3 days was the shooting schedule)

Second.. Black is a very good spot to reveal noise. Black and a grey gradient (i.e a moving watch falling out of light) lets you push through the IRE range to spot problems.

That's the reason I assumed they shot what they shot. Good tell tale sign on the noise levels.

Well jared? How were its noise levels......? PLEASE!!! TELLL!

Well I wish i could tell you how the noise looked, but unfortunately i couldnt find any.

..VERY VERY NICE. you can tell i really think so cause its in caps. now im really wondering if anyone on the red team is able to send out a 1080p or 2k h.264 of the demo? that would be great for all those not there to get a 1/2 res tatse.

The H.264 video will drop next week sometime.. they need to come back from across the pond first.

And a 1080p version isn't 1/2 res... thats less than a 1/4 res ha hah a.. man thats nuts.

I was never as excited as you guys, but moreso curious, but now...I don't know, it feels like all other companies are going to be staring at the RED, trying to compete with it, trying to imitate it. There's always one company that begins the run, others follow suit regardless of whether they'll advance the technology. Its just nice to see this company sprout out of no where and compete against the big boys. Sony is gay btw.

is the footage available anywhere else? cuz you tube is banned in some countries =/

i want to see the video... can anyone help?
