First Letus35A shoot

So I got my letus35 earlier this week, and finally got a chance to test it out today. I have to say, I am very impressed by the footage I got. There are still some tweeks that need to be made, in camera settings, but I thought I would put up a nice large link for all to see. The file is large and the resolution is 1280x560. I did it this size for viewing on my 75" HD projector, and I have to say it looks phenominal. There is some more grain than normal DVX footage, but I have to be honest and say that I am not one bothered by grain, especially when the footage looks like this.

Enjoy.

Wow! That`s amazing, very film like i have to say. I thought G35 is the way to go, but now i have to wonder ;)
BTW, congrats on Letus35 :)

Wow..that was truly impressive!

I really liked the shallow DOF on the medium/wide shots...

Im not bothered by grain at all especially when it remains solely in the darks or background. Its blockiness that concerns me... dling your footage now.. Im using letus flip, I have been pretty happy with the shots I have used it for.

Good footage btw nice time of the day to shoot, your colors look great.

I'm glad everyone likes the footage. I still can't believe how nice it looks, especially blown up on a big screen, I would actually say it is more pleasing to look at than straight DVX footage.
I bought the Letus 35A handyman's corner kit. Basically the 35A with all the extras, but for only $375 since I had to clean it myself. It took me about 25min total to clean it, not a bad deal at all I say.
I used a nikkor 28mm F2 and a nikkor 85mm F2 for this shoot.
I'm using it with cavision rod support and a cavision mattebox. I highly reccomend getting rod support for this adapter. With it, it is rock solid, and you can focus without moving the camera or lens at all, plus it takes the weight off the DVX lens. Without rods, I also noticed that the lens looks like is sags a bit. This does not seem to affect picture quality, but trust me, having rod support makes everything so much more stable and firm.

Yeah, the grabs look very grainy, however this footage has been blown up quite large, so it's kind of expected. But like you said, it does look very 16mm ish. I have some older 16mm footage that I shot a few years ago, and I have to say that the grain pattern is very similar. The moving images look much better than the still grabs, and yes.
By the way, yeah it was really freakin cold, the wife thought I was somewhat crazy for wanting to do this, but I'm really happy with the way it came out.

I have yet to see any really bad footage from these adapters, even on a 1ccd crappo cam. Everytime I see one I'm in love. Sure they're grainy, but hey, I deliver on the web mainly ;)

looks amazing. Did you shoot in widescreen mode? Also, do you have any problems with the ground glass being too small?

I downloaded the larger file...opened it up in a 4:3 project, resized it and watched it on a 32" television. It looks sassy. Even with the wma compression it looks good. And the grain isn't nearly as noticeable as it is in the stills.
Scharky, how was this footage uprezzed to that resolution?

Geez Wow! It looks great! Was there any CC done to the footage or was it straight out of the camera? I m considering getting a Letus myself so I was wondering if there're any prior adjustments, such as setting the flange focus distance, before using the adapter?

Anyway, superb clip!
