First HVX commercial now airing, check it out...

The complexity of the flowers image (varied colors/shapes, etc) combined with the extremly fast motion would challenge the HDV codec to handle it without motion artifacting. I believe HDV has Key Frames (full res) every 6 to 8 frames - which means 2-3 out of the 15 (for the half second) frames would be FULL res - the rest would be interpolated (figured out) by the codec. And that kind of nasty fast motion isn't easy to interpolate. WOULD love to see a side by side with that kind of shot.

Oh and great spot man - very entertaining.

I understand that, but those movements are just about one second.

On a JVC HDV camera that uses 6 GOP format or even a Sony, I just don't think you'll see artifacting especially for SD conversions.

And I agree that I would also like to see a comparison.

Again, this isn't about the shooter, the spot, or the Pany.

But I don't feel, truthfully, that this spot shows off the HVX200 capabilities as much as a one with that is primarily video emphasized.

Nice spot though

I'd also like to see a comparison but I'm pretty sure that HDV (at least the JVC) could handle it fairly well, and if you're only going to SD anyway I bet it's no concern at all.

Could this have been done in high res stills? Some shots maybe but not the moving around and "action" shots like the flowers being smashed togeter or the zoom in's would not have been possible. Also the client did not have the time oor money for a Flame or AE artist in addition to the editors. Part of why I shot this on the HXV was cost savings.

I have never seen a group of guys get so excited about flowers! How romantic! I guess you could say that this spot works!

Danillo, Ya got to give E some appreciation on this gig or no gig. I'm surprised though that you didn't mention the Canon in your post but maybe that has died as footage is coming back like this.

I'm not a Canon fanboy :)
I'm only lookin' for the best camera for my "job". I hope to see new footage soon, till now I've seen much *good* footage from the Canon than Panasonic.
But for the workflow (P2) I'd want the Panasonic, I don't like tapes...
I really want to see *amazing footage* from Hvx, I'm worried only because I must choice between Canon and Panasonic.
I'm waiting also for Xdcam Hd (with variable framerates) but 4:2:0...mmm I don't like.
Redcamera it's another camera that really has interested me, but it's too much far to enter in the market and I believe it will be very high priced...
Hvx200 is more *balanced* (P2, uncompressed audio, variable framerates...) camera than Canon.
One more thing that I'd like is an option to desaturate colors on Hvx200, for a Black and White picture, it's too bad that Panasonic didn't included this option...

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'd rather do this in post. Much more flexible. Plus you retain the option to always go back to color if needed.

I agree. Grame Natress has a free Plug-In for FCP called G-take and it allows you to view only the Y (Luma) channnel thus giving you 4:4:4 BW images.
