First 7D Video! (And First Time Using A Camera In A Year!)

I recently bought a 7D from Best Buy a few weeks ago and just had the time now to use it while I traveled to New Jersey from Illinois to visit my family. I went to some places I shot at with my DVX that I wished I could have shot in HD back then. I really like the 7D's image but I need to practice more and avoid things that are known to cause problems. Like BRICK WALLS.

This was uploaded at 1920x1080 but Vimeo didn't recognize it as HD for some reason. I will replace it with the HD version unless you want to download the 500mb file and watch it that way...

EDIT: I am uploading it to a second Vimeo account right now and will add a link and password to that one below. Hopefully that one recognizes it as HD.

EDIT: Still can't get this stupid video on Vimeo in HD. Surprisingly, this Youtube version is better looking than the Vimeo one I did originally:

I can't wait to see more from you Steven, that's for sure!

Great first test! Awesome that you got a 7D, feels like the ol' gang is "starting" again

Keep it up mate!

I put it on Facebook. It looks a lot better on there than SD Vimeo, which is sad...
My arms definitely feel better after shooting for long periods of time with the 7D compared to the DVX.

DVX/SGpro users assemble!!!

Well it does feel like the ol gang is starting again...even though i didnt get my sgpro...i always wanted one :2vrolijk_08:

Great stuff Steven...looks like u revisted all ur old dvx locations and morphed it into real hd. colours are real good as i've come to expect from you. i'm guessing u shot flat as u usually do?

looking forward to more.

re export: I've been having export probs since the 7d. my dvx HD export settings (which look really good) arent playing well with 7d...so i;ve got to figure that out (using premiere cs4). But yours looks pretty sharp from where i'm siting. you have a link to the FB version? I searched for u but coudnlt find you to add you. i'm gonna have to get vimeo plus at some pooint also.

Thanks Darren. I shot some of it with that super flat setting, but I didn't like it. So I switched to neutral at some point. I edited it in Premiere CS5 since it handles the files perfectly. I exported as an uncompressed QuickTime that was 1920x1080 and had a pixel ratio of 1.0 I believe. Then I just compressed it from there the same way I used to do my DVX footage. I am sure there is room for improvement since it was my first time.

My Facebook's privacy might make it so you cannot search for me. But, here is a link to the video and you may be able to get to my page that way. Send me a friends request or link me to your page and I will add you.

The original Vimeo link has been updated, but I have not compared Vimeo's HD to Facebook's High Quality playback yet.
