FS7: Firmware V3.0 Released? [Interval Recording, Focus Magnification area position+more]

You promise when it will come, then DELIVER!! Or at least inform prior to the deadline that there will be a delay. This is extremely annoying that almost EVERYONE in camera industry is throwing some dates and then do not deliver!! In many businesses that would be unacceptable.


(besides that, I still have a hope that firmware for both will come at the same time).

Not kind of sure where they get that info from as there's nothing on official FS7 firmware page nor on sony community forum.
Anyway, if that info holds true it's good tat they've confirmed all the features again. Nothing exciting about the release date (it may come at the last day of December).
I know most of people are waiting for 2K crop mode but for me headline feature is NR in CineEI. For fast turn around low light gigs I finally won't need to switch to custom and lose all those nice colors.

NR in Cine EI will be great. I'm also looking forward to being able to move the img magnification box around since I shoot 4K to crop for intv often and need precise focus.
 
I've just seen a video clip of fw3.0 and it looks like the menu system has been sped up considerably. The switch to 2k centre happens instantly and no reboot necessary either.

To be released in Dec.
 
Ah, sir. Don't tease us with your hearsay! Everyone knows that there is no v3.0 firmware, it is all an elaborate fantasy concocted by The Man to drag us down! ;-)

Is there a link perhaps, if its a public clip?

I hope they have done something with the menu.
 
A colleague of mine showed me it on his Facebook stream. I think there is an FS7 group on Facebook with it. There are also stills of the intervalometer settings and the focus zoom window.

The switching to 2k centre looked brisk. I hope it wasn't speeded up video!

The only thing funny here Ben is you wrote about the RAW issues first a long time ago, I published some DR diagrams in early November, but cinema5D gets the credit for finding the issue. :happy:

Anyway yes delays do suck, but I think it's great the features they are able to add to the FS7. Including NR in CineEI mode which is awesome, interval recording mode, and 2K full/center.

They still ok in my books.
 
I'd be lying if I said it didn't piss me off a bit. We have been banging this drum since day 1 but a year down the line someone else is the whistleblower?

I dont care care about new features. I just want it to do what it as advertised as being able to do when I bought it. Remember in camera LUTS? Haha....
 
I'd settle for just something direct from Sony for once....some sort of explanation or excuse...rather than these 2nd hand accounts.... that is what adds to my frustration. Who's behind the wheel anyway?
 
I don't know one user who is desperately waiting for a raw output fix. But plenty of people who are really waiting on center crop and other fixes. Why not wait for 3.1 to fix raw?

NR in CineEI, that is what I'm waiting for. Funny thing is that beta firmware is already presented on demo cameras. What a sane programmer (or bunch of them) would decide that instead of getting out of beta AND THEN working on a next release, would throw another feature that could introduce more bugs and push the whole release substantially later??? That is beyond my understanding (and any bright programmer). Conspiracy theory is that they've already had raw fix but "discovered" it only now so they have excuse and more time to finish 3.0 release (as some people reported that Sony is having a very hard time to implement all those promised features because of some hardware limitations).

Good thing is that whatever they've announced now they HAVE TO deliver it. No matter how but this have to come unless Sony want to lose it's face in front of hundreds (thousands?) of shooters.

I wouldn't throw stones at the engineers. Maybe all these fixes are in some related related and you don't want to try fixing them one at a time.
