I've read the threads, focus's manual, personal manuals, blogs, and yes, I always organize p2, but still when I enable my firestore on to my MBP the information is not available in the format all the resources claim should be there.
There is a Contents Folder, but it is empty. Yes, the video, audio and sub folders are there but nothing is in them.
There is no last clip. My recorded files are in a folder but not in the appropriate spot.
Here is the play by play.
When I enable two firestore drives pop up. Not just one, two. They both will be titled the same thing. However, the first one, will contain Reel folders 0-9 (all empty), a file labeled Desktop DB, a file labeled Desktop DF, a file labeled fwxdc.dat, and a log folder, which will contain a file that is labeled with the same numbers that the first clip I recorded is labeled but ends in .inf.
The other drive will duplicate all of the information from the first drive but with the exception of two folders.
ONE: the Contents folder. The Contents folder will contain all of the appropriate sub folders (video, audio proxy, etc) but they will all be empty.
TWO: A folder labeled the same as my first initial clip that I recorded. In this folder all of my footage will be located. My Ref mov and my QT. mov files. All of my footage. And it makes sense. It's labeled correctly, etc.
When I import into FCP I am allowed to import each file only. i can't import the entire folder (TWO) into FCP. FCP will only let me import each single file.
The whole process is disconcerting to me. I'm a novice at all of this and am not sure what is going on, and I suppose I could just import all of the files from the folder (TWO) and edit as if the Contents folder doesn't mean anything at all but this seems like an idiotic thing to do. I would like to go about my process how it is stipulated in the manuals.
Has this happened to anyone out there?
