I believe that you need to have posted at least 100 times, but it is not to late.

collet - you have one post, you need 99 more post. click on my banner, love to have you post on my thread.

Sorry to hear that things aren't working out as planned. That is the nature of these things... Check out Charli and Elton's page, I think its still raining over there. But on the "glass is half full" side of things, you did actually have shoot day which is a huge because many never even get to that point. And as long as you learn from your mistakes... and post the microphone wankery... it will have all been worth it. :)

Man, it is tough getting good actors that don't flake for this kind of thing. Sorry to hear about your problem, I hope you can get something done to submit.

I hate to hear what you've been going through. It blows when people aren't proffessional, and don't take what you do seriously. I hope you are stiil able to finish your film.

man, your difficulties have really made me feel grateful for only having some technical difficulties (no personnel difficulties). hope things get better for you

My number one concern whenever I'm about to embark on any project like this (other than script), is ACTORS. I arguably spend the MOST time attempting to build trust and a rapport with my actors (before any shooting has been scheduled), and "selling" them on the project. I always try to convince the actors that the're getting something very valuable from me (stuff for their reel) in exchange for actually showing up at the appointed time. To me, this is the paramount negotiation for all filmmakers. I cannot go ahead on a project until I'm at least 75% confident that my actors are as "invested" in the project as much as I am. Good luck!

badly.

Anyways, now shoots have been rescheduled this weekend and all these problems have arisen. The person who's supposed to be scoring WILL NOT talk to me and I believe he thinks it will "Let me down" in some way if he can't do it. I try to tell him it's not like that and I just want to know, I don't care if he can't do it, I care if it gets done. Seeing as it may not get done till the effing 30th, I will be too EMBARRASSED to enter. It's not shaping up nicely. I doubt my actors think it will even CUT INTO SOMETHING, lol, let alone cut into a good movie.
I got a similar situation with my composer. She is MIA since a Sat. AM email. Don't know why. She's a great gal, but an artist. I hear they run on a different schedule. It's a bummer, cause I gave her an out early on when i had the potential of another offer. But she said she was up for the task. Still got time, I guess, but I'm nervous. I don't want to score this on my own, but I found a royalty-free site with the music similar to what I'm looking for. $35 and me fumbleing my way through musical cuts will get me across the finish line, but it may not be as nice as I'd hoped. Good luck on pulling your crew together. I really feel for you!

Hey Zach, come to Los Angeles, man... I'd be more than happy to act in something you do and I'm pretty positive I can find other actors to work on it as well. Sorry to hear you've had so many problems with this thing. If anything, use it as a learning experience. That's what I did with my horrorfest entry...

Yeah. I don't think we'll make the deadline.

I'd like to do a rewrite and make it sillier than it already is, so that if it's bad you can blame it on the comedy.

I'm kind of laughing at it and I'll still keep in touch with everybody who's worked on it because it's tough to find people who even say yes to doing anything related to film out here.

But sadly, Final Print may never see the light of DVXUser. I will post BTS and some really big posts explaining it because there are some really cool elements to the movie. We really only had one big gimmick - that I shall not give away until I'm certain it's June 1st.

However I'd like to thank all of you who have posted and for the advice you have given me. I think the best way to learn is to learn from mistakes. And the more I work films the more comfortable I will become with mistakes and fixing them.

I think the best quote of the night is "She's an artist. I hear they run on a different schedule."

Zach... like I mentioned earlier... sorry to hear this! When you are ready to finish and need help with the FX, let me know!

Best of luck... Mark :)
