Final Cut Pro Monitoring

Hello, I am trying to monitor my 720p 24pn footage on a television monitor via firewire from Final Cut Pro - I.ve changed the audio/video settings to standard NTSC, but I.m guessing it doesn.t want to downconvert to playback the images - My final copy is for standard def, and I don.t own an HD monitor so I wanted to CC on a standard NTSC monitor...which traditionally works via firewire out when I shot miniDV, how do I get it to work with the HD footage? Is it possible?

Thanks,
Mark.

Same situation as above, except that I did monitor 1080 to an SD monitor through the HVX output.
But David, does the MXO turn an Apple 23" Cinema Display to a reliable HD monitor in terms of gamma, bright and contrast?
I was thinking to buy one, but couldn't find real world tests on it.

Another MXO question...is it possible to have THREE monitors on one machine? A dual monitor set up and then a third monitor to view your timeline via the MXO?

Great review Shane and thanks Kevin 4 the link!!

So now the only problem is to get a Color calibrator.....i'll find one

Take care!

P.S.
talking about greenish? whenever I rented portable monitor Sony or Jvc for on location shooting in SD I've seen many green worlds!!!

Yes, you will need to get another graphics card. PCI-X or PCIe, depending on your computer.

Umm...I think my thread was highjacked :) I don.t really get what MXO means exactly...is it not possible to do what I.m wanting...if so how would I do it?

Thanks,
Mark.

The Matrox MXO is a hardware add-on which takes the output from the DVI port of a desktop or notebook Mac and provides colorspace accurate and pixel accurate monitoring of HD material on a DVI monitor. It also provides you SDI, component and composite video and allows real time downrez to SD. Yes, you can do what you want with the MXO. Connect it to the 2nd DVI port of your Mac and then to the DVI of an Apple Cinema Display or similar display (I use a Dell 2405). Or go component HD to an HD TV receiver.

or can you not just run a firewire cable to the HVX and then component out to a HD screen? and also in the correct colorspace?

really? I haven't tried it yet with the HVX - done it with my GL1 for SD stuff for years(that's about all i use that camera for now-a-days. ) that's a bummer.
